Breast Implants and Tanning Beds
I recently got breast implants but I am a frequent tanner and didn't want to lose my color. I was concerned that I would not be allowed to go in a tanning bed because of the recent surgery and found myself wondering what the correlation between breast implants and tanning beds was. Well let me clear up all your breast implant, tanning bed, x-ray and going back to work questions.
Breast implants and tanning beds are real simple to understand. For the first 3 weeks I believe your surgeon does not want you to go tanning at all. Sorry guys! I know that sucks to hear but you will be more satisfied with your new breasts than the tan! Once he gives you the OK or 3 weeks have passed you can go tanning. I found that tanning lotions are semi resistant to the skin around the breasts for quite some time but it does not effect the tan you get. Your tanning lotion might seem to peel or flake off which might seem strange to you but fear not! You MUST wear either band-aids, steri strips or cover the area where the scars are. Otherwise they will heal poorly and possibly get inflamed. You should continue this for quite some time, until your doctor has told you otherwise, which mine has not yet and it has been just about 3 months.
I got breast implants on March 29,2007. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Some might laugh at that statement but when your not satisfied with the way you look, you know what I mean. I was a small to medium B prior and now I am a 34 D. I was terrified but extremely excited. Everything was provided for me and when I say this I mean I had a ride to and from the surgery center, pain meds. for the after recovery period and about 10 days to be exact before I had any real activities to go back to like school and work. I believe that this procedure is perfectly safe, although several other sites and commenters might believe differently.
Some might think that the surgery is very painful and you will be off your feet for quite sometime, but I had a different experience. Breast implants for the first 30 days do look like they are set very high up. Fear not, they will drop a decent amount unless you told the surgeon to purposely put them high up. (I did) The first day after your surgery you will not feel too much pain. Yet on the other hand my two friends did the procedure shortly after me and felt different. They experience more pain then I did. One could not walk she was in so much pain and the other merely felt weak, tired and uncomfortable but that all disappeared after a week. For me on the other hand, and I remind you I do NOT handle pain well, felt better after 3 days. The first day you are very doped up on pain meds and you feel slight pain but mainly don't mind it and want to sleep. My throat hurt also, as to they put a tube down it to help your breathing. That too passes after a couple of days.
The most painful part I think was getting up and off your bed. It just feels very uncomfortable. I do not advise going to look for a bra anytime until 2-3 months have passed since your surgery. I got a couple of cheap ones about a month after and was a 34 C but now it has almost been 3 months and I had to buy all new bras today which were 34 D and don't even get me started on padded bra's. In simple terms... you do not need them and if you want to wear one it frankly feels very weird and compresses against the implant.
Can you have x-rays with breast implants? Yes you can. Although I believe the x-rays come out better and more accurate if you have the implants UNDER the muscle some choose to have it done over the muscle. When getting your surgery you have an option of either under or over, most people get under the muscle because it is safer, looks more natural and allows breast exams to be performed easily and accurately. (For those of you with Breast Cancer in your family, like myself)
How soon after breast augmentation can you return to work? It definitely varies on the person but from my opinion and several people who have gotten it, you can usually return to work after a week to 2 weeks. For some like my boyfriend's mother, you can return after just a few days, about 3 to be precise. I waited about 10 days before returning to anything extreme. You are not allowed to drive for a week and it is kind of weird once you start driving. NO talking on your cell phone in one hand and turning the wheel with the other. (I already tried that and it was pretty hard) They are still new and swollen and you should really use both hands. Even though seat belts are required by law and for your safety I recommend putting it on but putting the part that crosses over your chest in back of you. It feels better and prevents any rubbing which can be uncomfortable.
How long does it take to heal after breast augmentation? As I stated earlier I would say somewhere between a few days to a week and a half. You will feel great at times and others it might hit you and you might want to go home or lay down for bit. I felt it was a coming and going process. The official time I felt 100% Ok was 3 weeks after. I would say almost all of the pain, swelling, random aches and pains were gone. I was able to go to the gym again shortly after that. The doctor usually says about 6 weeks before you can go to the gym but in some cases like my own it might be shorter. You should definitely wait at least a month before beginning your exercise routine again. DO NOT lift any weights for about 6 weeks or more. My surgeon told me after 6 weeks I can begin doing arm exercises again but I chose not to and waited till almost 2 months had passed. At first you are weak and you will probably get sore easily but you should regain all your ability in lifting weights back shortly. Some females find it difficult forever to lift weights afterwards.
What is and how to avoid capsular contraction after breast augmentation? This is when you gain lumping at the bottoms of your breasts. It is not a pleasant thing to experience and it looks quite ugly. It causes your breasts to harden and not get soft. Not many people get this problem but it does occur and especially in smokers. I was a smoker and I stopped smoking for a month before my surgery and about 2 months after. I did not have the problem. For those of you who are smokers, that is what I would recommend to do. Smoking is a major cause of capsular contraction. It is only fixable through surgery and I think very rarely through injections into the breast. Most often the scenario is that you need to have the surgery over again and hope that it doesn't happen again.
If you are wondering what size cc's to go I can tell you now that everyone looks different in the cc's. It depends on your frame and the width of your breasts. I got 350 implants filled up to 375 and I am now a decent size 34 D. Prior to surgery I was a 34 B in those infamous Victoria Secret padded bra's. This will not necessarily give you the same results. I heard that one way of seeing if you like the size you have decided to go is to get a zip lock bag and fill it with the same amount of water as cc's you would be getting. There are several sites which explain how the two correlate. You can also do the same with pantyhose and sand. I'm not too familiar with exactly how that one works though.
Well I think that should answer the bulk of your breast implant / breast augmentation questions so good luck on finding yourself a wonderful doctor!

This was excellant advice. I am a mother of three who has been waiting an awful long time for my “mommy makeover”. I am so excited and terrified too. I am going to be getting my breast augmentation and tummy tuck around the end of July 2009. Thank You again for sharing your personal experience.

Thanks for all the info, I’m getting mine done on April 14/09 and honestly I haven’t been this scared in a very long time. I’m so afraid of the pain, how they look, too big, too small, capsular contraction. I stopped smoking completely on March 13th so it is a month before my procedure so hopefully it won’t happen to me.
I guess I will wait about 2 months before going back to the gym, I do work out religiously for the last 5 yrs and it’s gonna suck to wait that long to work out but I don’t want to damage my implants. As for the tanning thing, you think I can tan after a month as long as I cover up my scars right? I also heard you’re not supposed to tan 2 weeks before because it’s easy to get infection if the skin flakes off? Is that true? So hard to believe what’s true and what’s not.
March 31st, 2009 at 7:56 pm
I got mine on May 29th 2008, i love mine, i never felt any pain from the surgery, i did feel alittle tired, and had alittle bit difficulty getting in and out of my bed, i went from a 36B to a 36DD. i also had a lift on both of my breast, but i went over the muscle not under, i seen to many women with under and i didn’t care for the way they looked with implants. there breasts were either to far apart or way up top like a weight lifter and i didn’t like it. Here’s what i did, you might laugh but i am glad i did, i took a picture out of a magazine and showed him how i wanted my breast to look, not asking for a miracle but its what i wanted and i was paying for them, so i did it. He was very glad i did that and everything worked out fine, i was cut around my nipple and straight down like a lollipop, they are healing fine. i have a tanning bed and get in mine alot but i did wait until i was almost 6 months out, because i went through the summer healing. But they look good and make me feel good. thanks

Hey Susie
Thanks for the info, I am extremely worried about my operation which is in 12 days!!!!! I’m so afraid of the pain and whether I maybe going to be too big or not. I’m a 36A right now and want to be a nice full C, I got sized and was going to go for 350cc cohesive gel under the muscle but I’ve seen so many pics women my size and they look huge when they only get 300 or 325!! I’m so confused, I don’t want to look like a freak. I’m only 5:2 110 lbs but I’m quite athletic so don’t want to also look like one of those body builder types either. So 350 or 360??
As for tanning, 6 months?? I was told about 6 weeks as long as you cover up your incisions.
Thanks

I got my BA on April 1st.I got 510 cc. I already love them getting out of bed after sleeping all night is the worst but other then that im being pretty active.I have alot of bloating in my belly and it is hard to take deep breaths.Has any one had this problem?
April 7th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
I got my breast augmentation on April 2, 2009. Prior to surgery I was a 32 full A and was so worried about picking a size that would look too large on my frame. I am 5’7 and 110 lbs. I ended up going with 421 CC of silicone gel under the muscle in the right breast and 397 CC in the larger left breast and could not be happier. The swelling has already gone down a ton and aside from sleeping comfortably feel that I am almost back to 100% less than a week later. I was able to get the surgery on a Thursday and had no problem going back to work on Monday. Just need to take it easy on the lifting. As for working out, (this is the hardest part because I used to work out every day) I was told to not have my heart rate elevated (this can lead to complications / bleeding at the incision site) for 3-4 weeks. However, as for cardio of any kind (6-8 weeks). Lifting weights, at LEAST 8 weeks preferable 3 months. Tanning, I was told at least 8 weeks and to cover the incision site with sterile strips for at LEAST 6 months. However, rest assured that all of this is worth it! You will look great and feel more like a girl in the end.
April 7th, 2009 at 7:42 pm
Thanks for the info Natalie, I guess I’ll wait for 8 weeks before I go tanning but for sure I have to keep the sterile strips for 6 months? Where do I get these sterile strips from?
I’m definately going to miss working out for a while, my surgery’s next tuesday and I’m working out like a man woman in the gym this week (hope that won’t be bad) and I was told to take 2 vitamin C pills per day at least 2 weeks prior to my op.
Also do you guys know if it’s safe to go into a hot tub a month after the surgery? I’m going to oregon on May 18th and it’ll be a little over a month and I maybe going into a hot tub but not sure if that’s a good thing or not yet.
April 8th, 2009 at 11:46 am
Anonymous C, good luck surgery. I am sure that it will go great! The sterile strips should be available at any medical supply store. They may even by by your local pharmacy’s counter, I would ask them. As for hot tubbing, I am not sure…I didn’t ask that question. So, I would talk to your Dr. and see what he or she says.
April 8th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Thanks Natalie, you have no idea how freaked I am right now. 6 days away!! I have no idea what to expect even though I’ve done a ton of reading and research on everyone’s experience. I’m just really worried about the recovery and any complications that may occur. You’re so lucky you were almost 100% in a week?
I’m getting mine done on a tuesday and I’m returning work on the following Monday, so I hope that’s enough time for me. Any other advice?
April 8th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Thanks! I just got my implants yesterday and you just about answered all of my questions. I love to go tanning, and my doctor said to keep them covered and use sun screen on your breasts if they’ll be exposed to any sun light. As for day one, I was (am) very nauseous from the medications but not feeling too much pain. Things have been pretty good so far. When I feel nauseous, I just look down and remember it’s worth it!
I will be in Hawaii in two weeks, any advice for the plane ride or activities to avoid? I was told not to get in the water.
April 8th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Wow you just got them yesterday and you’re feeling not much pain? I guess everyone’s different so I’m hoping I will be alot like you. Can you tell me what height and weight you are and what type of implants you got? Under/over, saline, silicone or co-gel? how many cc’s??
I’m getting extremely nervous right now and it’s 6 days away. I’m planning to not take any medications unless I really need it, I heard those medications can make you nauseous and very ill.
Have a great time in Hawaii, I’ve been there 3 times and I would totally live there if I could.
April 9th, 2009 at 11:40 am
This question is for Natalie. You’re information has been so helpful, thank you! But I do have one very important question, we are about the same frame, I am 5’7 and 114 pounds and my biggest concern is being the right size. I want to look normal and proportioned. I decided on 390cc’s. I want to be a full C. PLEASE get back to me and tell me what you think about that. I read your cc’s and just wanted to know what exactly that would be. What do you think about 390cc’s??? Oh actually my right is smaller than my left so they will be 390, but filled at 410 on the right and 390 on the left.
April 9th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Anonymous C, I am getting mine in 12 DAYS!!! And I am totally freaking out! I am so nervous and scared, we share a lot of the same concerns and have similar questions.
April 10th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
I just got mine 5 days ago too. I feel great. The first 2-3 days were uncomfortable, but really not too much pain. As for tanning, even if you cover up the whole breast, you still can’t tan the rest of the body for 8 weeks? I would love to tan or get some sun and I don’t mind just covering them all up. Is that okay to do?
April 10th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
Hi Monica. I think that you will be very happy with that size! I wanted the look of a Full C as well. So, the right smaller breast was filled to 421 and the larger left breast to 397. Anyway, I just went to my post op yesterday and was measured at a “D” but there is still a ton of swelling to go down. So, my Dr. is expecting that indeed I will be a Full C when all the swelling goes down.
Be sure to let me know how it goes!
April 11th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Okay, perfect. Thank you so much Natalie! I just went to my pre-op yesterday and I am now a week away! So crazy! I am so glad I found you on here because we are around the same size. That was really helpful. Im excited but nervous at the same time, especially for the surgery and recovery. And loving the size of course. I will definitely keep you posted! : ) Full C is the way to be! haha How are you liking them? Did you have to buy all new shirts?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
Great Info, had the surgery on the first of April and 98% of things you mentioned are true.
Sincerely,
MERI
April 14th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
Hey girls – sorry kind of long but might be able to ease your mind girls.
I just came back from my surgery today, wow talk about being scared or what. I went in at 7:30Am (well 15 min late cuz of my bf) but anyway went into the change room and asked me a bunch of questions, took some meds before going in to help with the pain and incase of nausea. My bf came in to say good bye to me and I went back in. My PS came in and marked my chest with my sizing, I wanted 375cc’s but he said he won’t do it cuz that’s way too big for my frame so I did 350cc, cohesive gel- under – mod profile plus – incision under the breast.
I went into the operating room, the nurses and the other staff was sooooooooooo nice to me. I had a warm blanket, they gave me some leggings and gave me a massage while they prepped me. The only massive pain I felt was the IV they jabbed into my hand for the anesthetic and that was OMG awful pain but it only lasted maybe 1 min or so but still holy crap!
I was out like a light after that, I woke up in the recovery room (felt like i was out and awake within minutes but was about an hour 20min apparently). When I woke up, I felt this huge weight on my chest, not really painful but just really sore like I over did it at the gym. I’m a total baby when it comes to pain (especially when I broke my tailbone last Nov) so this is nothing compare to my broken bone.
It was more discomfort and soreness then awful pain, I was surprised cuz i can’t stand pain! I had no brusing but just a little swollen. I know it’s probably normal but the are so hard right now (hope it’ll soften up soon and it’s not capsular contracture). After waiting in the recovery room he nurse gave me some O.J. cuz i was so thirsty.
It’s only been about 5 hrs or so since i’ve been out and i’m walking around, typing and so happy that it’s not that bad. I haven’t even touched my pain meds the PS prescribed me, I’m going to try hard not to take them if I don’t have to but we’ll see tonight and tomorrow. The next day(s) might be worse then today, who knows but it is definately tolerable right now. I guess everyone’s different and I’ve read so many forums about other girl’s experience and I envied all of them who had a very easy recovery and I’m hoping I’m one of those girls which so far so good!
As for tanning, I was told at least 6-8 weeks before tanning and you have to cover up your scars and put sunscreen on your boobs at least 6 months to a year before they are completely healed!
I usually go to a tanning salon and tan in those standup ones and I usually tan about twice a week. I want to start tanning again but afriad it might be too soon but then if i wear a sports bra or bikini top i’m sure it’ll be fine but don’t know if i should chance it. Also i hate tan lines,if you guys have any questions please feel free to ask. So many girls have been so helpful with all the info so I am glad I’m able to share my stories with those of you who are waiting for your surgery! Good luck and honestly you will be fine, alittle pain for now but then you have your beautiful boobs in the end, so worth it!!
April 15th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Glad to hear it went well Anonymous C. Your experience and what you described was like reading the story of my surgery day. I am two week post surgery tomorrow and feel great. Just one thing to remember is that your new boobs will look really goofy the first week or so, but they honestly start to look better and better each day that passes!
April 15th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
Hey Natalie
Yes I know what you mean, its only day 2 for me and it looks really wierd right now. It’s super big but high up,stiff, sore and hard. I can’t wait for the day it starts to drop and softens up. So from your experience, so far 2 weeks has it dropped and softened up and starting to look normal?
What about bra shopping? My PS said I should wait since right now I tried on my 36C sports bra and it’s tight but maybe later on it’ll fit? I look more like a D right now.
April 17th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
Yes, they have started to drop and are starting to get closer together. I felt like at first you could place a coke bottle between the two of them and that is not the case now. So, I would say that after the one week mark is when the swelling started to go down and they started getting closer together. I still have yet to even try on a sports bra, so that is the plan for this weekend to see where I am at size wise.

Hey Ladies-
Glad to see that you are all enjoying the article I wrote. It has been a little over 2 years since my surgery now and figured I’d see how everyone is doing and if anyone had any questions for me.
My implants still look fabulous but a few comments I want to make. First; the size definitely decreases significantly after the first year. So honestly I wish I went bigger. They are still implants and look wonderful and well worth it but if you’re stuck on size I would suggest going bigger rather than smaller. When I chose the size my doctor said too big wouldn’t be good because I had a small frame and it would be difficult to close my arms. (of course that sounds crazy and I don’t want to look like a freak haha) so I went with the reasonable size that would let me close my arms without problems haha.
In the beginning I wrote that sometimes you can feel/hear weird noises in your implants. This generally goes away but for me, does still occur on occasion. (This is especially true if you work out a lot) Another thing I noticed is that you get very used to your implants. It seems I am always thinking they look small, have shrunk, or that they’re leaking. All my friends and boyfriend think I’m crazy and say there huge but you get a psychological complex. After a year or so you will start to feel that they look smaller. This is true in a way, they are smaller as to they lost the swelling factor they once had. I know it’s hard to believe your boobs would be swollen for a year but when you see the doctor for your consult, they actually tell you the full outcome and swelling will appear in a year. So realistically girls, your “girls” won’t be the way they’ll look for good until AFTER a year. So my advice is enjoy the crazy psycho omg there implants look while you can, cause even though they still look amazing there is a difference as time goes by.
Now the only other thing I noticed is you should still continue to message them when in the shower from time to time. The doctor never told me how long to continue this, but I’d assume not longer than a year! I stopped messaging them but I’m sure if I continued the cleavage would be even better. (It still rocks though!)
As to tanning- well haven’t been tanning in about a year now. (I know kind of weird…) I was so used to looking dark n sexy and now I’m all pale! =( But hey your skin needs a break every now and then to recuperate from what we put it through. Your implants will obviously look much more amazing and defined when your tan. It works just like looking ripped. Did you ever notice how someone can look like they have ripped abs when there tan? The same concept applies to implants. Out of my personal opinion your implants will truly look their best… when your tan. (That is if you’re going for the implant look) If you’re trying to look “natural” I’d probably avoid the tanning beds.
So other than those few comments and tips everything is going great. I still love the fact I have boobies, I look awesome in almost any shirt and especially bathing suits…and well I still recommend it all for anyone and everyone. It is well worth the money and of course the self esteem you’ll gain. (Depending on the person if you’re not that confident) Honestly at first when I got them all I could think about is there probably going to lose their amazing look in a year or so or leak. I couldn’t believe I would have to pay $7200 again at some point like 20 years down the line and go through it all again… But now… I really don’t care and can’t wait till I do them over. I can have a better understanding of size and outcome in the end, I already know the cost, already have a doctor (hopefully he’s still practicing whenever ill need to think about this again) and I already know what level of pain to expect.
So anyway ladies- if you have any questions, comments, etc. for me feel free to ask / leave them and ill gladly answer.
Thanks for being so loyal and continuously posting and commenting on the article! Hope everyone’s surgeries are coming out awesome and you all enjoy them as much as I do! -Jess
April 27th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
Hey Jess and everyone
I haven’t been on here for a while but I’m on day 14 almost, tomorrow’s day 14 and Jess is right, I keep looking at them saying how small they are getting and I’m getting disappointed but meanwhile everyone is saying they’re massive! I have to be patient and let them drop and fluff and once they do they’ll look amazing. I wanted to be a full C and right now my boobs can’t even fit into a B bra cuz it’s so high up still but still everyone says be patient, once they drop and fill out that bra is going in the garbage. Hope they’re right.
You girls will think I’m nuts but I’m feeling so good during the recovery and I actually went back to tanning on day 10 and it was fine and I just came back from tanning today and it’s all good. I just made sure to cover up my incisions so I guess everyone’s different but there’s no problem with me tanning so far, keep your fingers crossed.
I’m going to keep positive even though I’m going through some boobie greed but like Jess says, I’ve been staring at these things day after day and I was so used to having them swollen that they looked huge but I still think they’ll be huge once they have dropped completely and I’ve dropped quite abit already and it’s only 2 weeks.
Thanks for reading and any questions, feel free to ask.
May 11th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
I just had mine done on May 6th 2009. My doctor was great at explaining the smoking thing, I dont smoke so it really didnt matter but it does come in handy to know everything possible. I was also told no hot tubbing or even submerged baths, I love to Take hot bath especially to shave my legs and just soak. However now I have to run half the water I normally do as to not submerge. I believe this is so the incisions can heal properly. I was a 36c in my padded bras before I got the procedure, that is the only way I could fill out my clothes, my actual breasts were more like a b. When talking to the doctor about size he told me our bodies will only allow us to go so big the first time around. We eventually deiscovered that I could go up to a D which made me very happy. I got the under the muscle procedure and am very happy with the fullness and natural look. I look in the mirror and see the woman I have always wanted to see and it looks right, not freaky. I am worried about this talk about them dropping though will that make them smaller and change the look? I am already attached to them and the way they look now. This is my 5th day with the new look and I thought all the swelling that was supposed to go away was already gone. So will they change even more from here?
May 15th, 2009 at 10:32 am
hey Chelle
Well I’m in about a little over a month now and as for the change, i’ve noticed that once the swelling’s gone it “seems” to be smaller because you’re so focused on how they look in the beginning but now mine’s dropped so much (almost complete) i would say and they aren’t smaller but they look really good now. More natural and a lot fuller! Don’t worry if it does change it will change for the better, trust me! I was so worried when I was around 5-10 days but now I love mine so much and they look awesome.
You’ll get there!
May 19th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
My doctor told me you would not be completely healed for A YEAR. I also wanted to warn you to DO YOUR EXERCISES!! It feels really gross to feel the crunching sounds and feel the buzzing sensations but your breasts will be beautiful and you won’t get encapsulated. Also, invest in some cocoa butter and use it faithfully. Make sure to massage deeply into the scar tissue so you won’t be lumpy on the incision. It will help you smaller women with alot of stretching to avoid stretch marks. To answer a question on the forum, your breasts will continue to change over the first year. My year anniversary was mid-April of this year and I feel as though I’ve had them forever. IMPLANTS ROCK – go for it!

I just had a breast augmentation and lift on May 7, 2009 (I am 3 weeks post op). The first thing I would say is that all the posts are great advice but always ask your doctor before doing (or not doing) something. For example, one poster suggested to make sure to do your massaging, whereas my doctor told me I cannot yet as there was still too much of a risk of causing internal bleeding.
As far as dropping, I have been told that they should drop within 2-3 months. After that, it is gravity and will continue to “drop” as if they were natural boobs over time, but that the 3 month mark should be a general idea of what they will look like. I am 3 weeks post op and although they look so much better than they did, they are still very very high (more than I would like them to be). Part of my issue is that I work out a lot (or did pre-surgery) and the muscles in my chest are not relaxing to allow the implants to drop. Women who are not as athletic supposedly will drop a lot sooner.
Lastly, my advice on size is to NOT try to go by what someone else chose even if their height/weight seem similar to you. There are so many other factors, such as how wide your frame is, how big your chest is, how long your torso is, how wide your breasts are, how your ribs are shaped. Your implants will follow the natural shape of your breasts so some women will have wider with more cleavage while others will have more space in between but they will protrude more outward. For example, my girlfriend was a C before and had 415 cc implants and now is a FULL DD. I was also a C and had 530 cc implants and now am a D (I’m 5’8″/125 lbs).
As far as healing, I was able to go back to work after about 5 days. Pain wise, I never felt too much pain from day one. There were certain movements that would be a little uncomfortable, but it only lasted a moment (like if you had an open wound and you accidentally bumped it, but then the pain goes away again). I was warned that it was going to be extremely painful so I was expecting the worst but it was not bad at all. I find the not being able to lift things and not being able to exercise much more troublesome than the pain ever was. So, for those of you that are nervous, although everyone’s experience is different, don’t be too scared, you can get through it.

Hey girls
I’m now at about almost 3 months post op and omg do I ever love my boobs. For the longest time I was so worried they were too small blah blah blah but now I fit into a 36D bra and it’s a little tight so we’ll see if they will still drop but honestly I love my cleavage, big time cleavage and my boobs are huge and they look so natural.
I started out as a 36A and now I’m a 36D possibly DD so you guys will love your boobs just as much as I do.

Thanks for the info…I got mine 3 weeks ago and love them already….and yes you were right about the most uncomfortable pain was getting on and off the bed.

Hi, i got mine done on the 10th of September, and they are really swollen and high up. I feel a little relieved hearing they will drop within 2 – 3 months but how soon do they become softer and more natural feeling? Im 5’7 and 130 lbs and i went from a full A to what is now a D, I had 350cc high profile saline implants put in, I heard that saline have a firmer feel and dont feel as natural, has anyone had saline that can tell me what theres feel like? Im scared I went to big and there not really sitting right at the moment, they look really fake right now. on the other hand its so good and comforting to read evryones story. Can anyone let me know if they had the same fears and how theres have turned out? Thanks gurls!!

I also got saline implants In June. I’m 5,2 110 pounds. I was a 34 A I got 390 ccs & I’m now a 34 D-DD. They did look very fake for the first month & now they look great, I’m very happy with the results. They are somewhat firm but my surgeon told me to constantly massage & move them to help keep them soft..They’re definetely softer now than they were a month after my surgery. I think once you give it some time you’ll be very pleased with your results.

Hi i got my BA 2wks ago n feel like they’re too small…I’m around 5’2 and 110lbs and was an A cup, I got 430cc silicone unders, I am very disappointed in the outcome…I’m getting a tummy tuck in 6 months and thinking about getting a redo on my boobs…I really thought 430cc would’ve looked great but as soon as I woke from surgery I knew they were too small straight away, I keep hearing bout this dropping and fluffing but I don’t think mine will look any bigger…to me I seem to look the same in clothes as before.

I heard that your scars would get dark and stay that way if you tan…is that true? When did your scars heal? I am getting them Dec. 20 and I want to be tan and in a nice new dress by my anniversary by the end of Jan.
Advice?
December 26th, 2009 at 9:13 am
Hi I’m 17 and I just got silicon gel implants 4 days ago. I really want to tan!
I can’t stand it! Why can’t u tan earlier than 3 weeks?
January 3rd, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Everyone’s comments have been so helpful! I am scheduled for my BA in about 4 weeks and I am SO anxious and nervous! I am VERY flat chested (AA) and am just going for a small natural implant. I am getting saline implants, moderate profile, under the muscle, filled to 275 cc’s. It sounds small, but I think it will look very proportioned for my build. I am a teacher and have not shared with my colleagues or many other people that I am doing this and want to know how noticeable it will be to others. I will be returning to work on day 5 so I know I will still be swollen, but am thinking I can wear a scarf and layer my clothes to conceal a lot of it..any thoughts?? Thanks again for all the stories…they help ease my mind somewhat!!
January 26th, 2010 at 1:19 am
HI Iam 5″4″ Wt 116 Iam scheduled to get the BA done the first week of Feb. Iam NERVOUS And SCARED ,But happy to get it done. YES everyone’s comments help so much. Iam going under the muscle, filling them to 360 cc’s with saline. I just hope they wont be to big!! I don’t want to be small. It is hard to decide on the size.. Any THOUGHTS?? I hope all goes well. We have a trip planned in May for Cabo and I wanted to know when I can tan ?? Yea the gym will be so hard to miss. But I will take care of my girls.. Can’t wait for the day
February 8th, 2010 at 2:13 pm
YOU CAN TAN RIGHT AFTER.
I was in my tanning bed 3 days after surgery. Just cover your scars. My doctor said it was fine to tan too and my boobs are still perfectly in tact. I just dont look pasty like the people who wait a month to tan! That’s ridiculous.
TN: I’m 5’5″ and 105 lbs so we are kind of the same build. I was completely flat and got 275cc in saline and I am a full C now. Soooo you may wanna reconsider 300 cc. You might look fat with 360. My best friend got 350 and is a HUGE DD now.
February 28th, 2010 at 9:27 pm
Hey guys!
I’ve been reading your posts and really appreciate all the comments. It’s been about 3 years since my surgery and everything’s going great. I definitely still think they are small but people tell me they are huge for my body all the time. I think I wanna go a bit bigger next time hehe If you are scheduled to get implants I would def agree with Samantha and say go bigger. They seem huge when your looking at them in your shirt in the doctors office but they look much smaller once they’re in there. Bigger is always better..b/c then you have no chance of being disappointed and wishing you would’ve gone bigger haha But don’t go too crazy, we are women and people gawk and don’t take you seriously if you go to big. One thing I noticed is I get really nervous sleeping on my stomach. I am a huge stomach sleeper and I’m always worried that I’m gonna pop one. My doctor said its impossible so I guess I’m just neurotic. I haven’t been tanning in a few months now but cant wait to get back into the groove of things. Bodies and Boobies always look better tan =)
March 8th, 2010 at 10:53 pm
I heard that you if you go in a tanning booth you should cover your breasts if you have implants because the heat would not be good and they could possibly rupture. Is this true? Hope not cause I plan on hitting the booths very soon. Any input on this. Thanks….

Hey everyone, what a great forum, so much information!!!
am getting my BA on the first week in april an am soo excitied, nervous as its my first operation!!! Everybody sounds sooo happy with their result’s. My boyfriend is against me getting them so i hope they do turn out nice to convince him that i made a good decision.
I am about 5’2 and weigh about 115lbs(trying to lose 5lbs before surgery)my surgeon has advised me on 415cc silicone gel cohesives partiallyunder te muscle, i want to be a dd???? Surgeon has told me to take a n E cup bra for swelling so he must think he is going to achieve the result.
Im a bit worried about one of the comments above about under the muscle looking far apart is this true?? I dont want that big gap in the middle!
March 10th, 2010 at 6:07 pm
Emma–I’m getting mine done on April 5th too!! I’m so excited and we seem to be similar in build!! I’m 5’2 and 110 lbs…I’m only doing a 300cc and I’m getting saline…I’m scared that anything bigger would just be too big because I’m so little!! Mine will also be under the muscle…when i used sizers I tried the 300 and the 350 cc and I thought that the 350 was too big, but now I’ve been reading that 50cc wont make much of a difference…do you ladies think I should go with the 350cc so I won’t be disappointed?
March 16th, 2010 at 11:50 am
Hi!! thanks i have been wanting to go to the beach and the tanning bed but i have been so scared of my skin rejecting the sun or something… I will cover my scars. I had my surgery on Feb 19th, 2010. so its been about 3 weeks. I am 23. A mother of 1. I was a small 36B and now i am a 36C i love them. only thing is now i have air pockets in both implants and my skin is super sensitive to the touch. I dont know when it will go away. i had a tummy tuck too and i still cant stand straight so im having a time. hopefully by my 3 month mark i will be okay. thanks again.
March 16th, 2010 at 9:48 pm
I got breast implants on February 5th, 2010. I am now at 6 weeks. I received 375 MF Cohesive Gel Implants. I am 5’4 and 125lbs. I have not been measured to see what my final size is but I am wearing a C bra and started out as a small A. My advice is to try on the sizers in the office, figure out the one you feel comfortable with and go the next size up from that–especially if you plan to go under the muscle like I did. You will lose some of the size when you go under the muscle. I am happy with my size but really could have gone a litle bigger. I haven’t dropped and “fluffed” yet as my nurse put it . . . .
March 19th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
I got mine three weeks ago and already feel that they are too small. I was a small 34B and got 397ccs silicone. Now I am measuring a C, but wanted to be a full C. My question for those who have had then a while, once they drop, do they fill out more or do they seem even smaller???
March 21st, 2010 at 10:39 pm
had my BA 3 days ago and they look way too big.
I wanted a med C but look like a D.
I’m 5’5 & weigh 118 pds. The Dr. used
350 cc’s silicone moderate plus
implants. Will they go
down, I’m freaking bc I look huge!
March 22nd, 2010 at 1:39 pm
Yes, they will go down. It took about 2 weeks for the swelling to go down.I had mine four weeks ago this thursday and I am a full C. I just hope mine don’t get any smaller….
March 23rd, 2010 at 8:33 pm
Hello everyone,
I have been reading everyones stories and it is helping with all my questions I have. I am getting my BA tomorrow morning and I am SOO excited but scared of the pain I wll be doing with afterwards. I am 5’3 130lbs I have a C now and getting a lift also.I want to be a full D. I am getting 500cc saline under the muscle moderate profile. I am guessing I might be a DD maybe the woman said because for example Victorias secret is cut small. I will be back and let you all know how I am doing.
) wish me luck!
March 24th, 2010 at 12:37 pm
Good luck Nicole!! sure your results will be fab!
March 24th, 2010 at 12:38 pm
Probably a silly question but do saline 500cc and 500cc silicone cohesive gels look the same size?
March 24th, 2010 at 6:09 pm
I am back and so happy I got them done. They look great and it has only been a few hours. They are very sore and stiff and numb but I know that is all normal. Thanks Emma… and for the 500cc saline and silicone they are excatly the same just feel differnt and the saline they fill to 500 inside your chest and the others make a larger cut because they are already that size and just place in inside you. Are you getting under muscle or on top of muscle. That will also make a differnct on the effect of the way it looks.
March 27th, 2010 at 7:51 pm
Hi Ladies!!
I’m happy to announce I’m getting my BA April 8th!! I’m 5’4, 110lbs, 32A planning on getting 375cc. I’m kinda freaking out! I’ve been wanting this for SO long! It’s right around the corner. My PS is going underneath the muscle and under the breast fold.
How should I set up the pillows on my bed to help me be more comfortable. I’m a side sleeper and I know this is going to be a challenge since I have to be on my back! Would love to get ideas on how to sleep slightly more “comfortable”.
I am a tanner, and I don’t plan on tanning for while. Ha ha. Maybe I’ll get my tanning done before I can’t go for awhile.
What do you ladies suggest for the scarring? I know it will naturally go away on its own, but isn’t there anything out there to help?!
I think that’s all I have for now. I’m sure I’ll post more questions as we get closer! 12 days!! Thanks for your support and stories gals
Ash
March 28th, 2010 at 6:57 pm
Nicole thats great that your feeling good!! Hows the last few days been?how is the size? I am getting partially under the muscle,so far the surgeon has said to go for 415cc but im considering upping the size jus a bit nervous of looking top heavy.
ASH our ops are the same day!! lol and i am freaking too so dont worry!!! as for scarring my surgoen has just recommended bio oil but not until scar has fully sealed.
March 29th, 2010 at 10:03 am
Emma- That is so freakin’ awesome!! We’ll have to write to see how we feeel, ha ha. I have this huge check list that I’m putting together to make sure I’m comfortable and ready to sleep basically the first day. What else are you freakin’ out about doll!
How did you ladies manage to wash and dry your hair after the surgery? My mom is going to be able to help me out but then she’s leaving for Cali 6 days after surgery. I’m hoping to be able to slowly learn how to do it, ha ha!!
April 1st, 2010 at 11:40 am
Everything I have read is so helpful!!! I get my implants next wed!! Im so freakin excited! Just worried im gonna look unproportionate! I am 109lbs and 5’3! I am a AA now and am gettin 420cc saline! Im pretty worried im not gonna look right with really little legs but all I hear that is a big comlaint is ppl sayin they should of went bigger! But my surgeon said that my chest bone sticks out a little so bigger implants will help not have a big gap in between! I am extremely worried about the pain!!
April 1st, 2010 at 3:18 pm
Meg, we will be boobie twins! I am also having mine next wed on the 7th. I am super excited, mostly just ready to have them and be through the uncomfortable stage where I can enjoy them. I am 5’5 128lbs. For my fitting I liked the 390 cc’s because with the saline they do the overfill. I am hoping to be a D when all said and done so hopefully those will be big enough, I’m about a 34A/B now. I haven’t heard about this gap thing so hopefully all goes well.
April 3rd, 2010 at 9:08 pm
Hi Ladies!
I had my pre-op yesterday, everything is becoming so real! How are you ladies doin! I have 5 days to go!
April 5th, 2010 at 7:59 pm
Hey ladies I had my surgery this morning everything went great! I am 5’2 and 110 lbs and I got 275 CC saline implants under the muscle and both left and right were filled to 320 CC and so far I am thrilled! I will say one thin though I definitely underestimated thepain my doctor said I have a ton of muscle tissue and its gonna be pretty sore and OMG it is…of didn’t start to hurt until I got home and the anesthesia wore off though but it hurts to get out of bed BC my chest feels so heavy and your arms will be very sore as we’ll! But overall right now I’m thrilled with how everything we t! I’m taking hydromorphine for the Pain but I wish it was step Ger! Ladies who have already had their BA, did the pain start to subside the second day or was it more stiff? BC I’m wondaring if I need a different t pain killer!
April 6th, 2010 at 4:32 pm
Congrats Katie! My surgery is tomorrow, I am really excited I have not got any nervous feelings yet. I have to be at the surgery center at 6:00am and my surgery is at 7. I will let you ladies know how the pain is afterwards, I am hoping to be one of the easy healers, but I guess we will see. Katie let me know how the pain goes for you.
April 6th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
Emma: Hi! I am doing well and recovering pretty good. Like I said I got the 500cc’s and they are BIG lol. I am happy with them though. I asked for the full D and I tried on bras and I am a 36DD. Kind of a bummer I bought a Victorias secret bikini and the Large is too small for my chest.
( owell but I will find something else.
You will not look top heavy.. what size are you now and how much do u weigh and height? Mine seem to fit my body size. If I were 100lbs I would look funny.
Let me know how your doing!?
April 6th, 2010 at 8:35 pm
So I’m at the end of day two. I’m not really in too much pain anymore but like everyone else has said getting in and out of bed is the worst. I don’t feel so lightheaded walking around anymore either but walking around right now is still a bit of a challenge BC my chest just feels so heavy when I’m standing up! I still haven’t fully seen them yet either but I plan on taking a shower tomorrow in hopes that my arms aren’t as sore as they have been! But showering still makes Me a bit nervous! But ill definitely keep you guys updated! I’m hoping to be back to work Friday but well have to see if that actually happens! Good luck to all you ladies with surgery this week!
April 7th, 2010 at 11:49 am
wow nicole i would be happy filling a dd bra, hope i get the same results!!!
well confirmed now with the surgeon for 420cc tomorrow, im 5ft2 (159cm) and weigh 120lbs, im hoping because i do have thighs and bum it will look more in proportion rather than top heavy.
cant wait to be at the recovery stage like you guys!
so nervous about the anaesthetic just trying not to think about it! bought my support bras today they look so funny.
what are the drains that you have in after surgery? are they sore to come out? cant wait for it all to be done now and typing a ‘how i got on’ message.
away to pack my bag now, thanks for the luck katie!
April 7th, 2010 at 12:53 pm
Hey ladies! Its day 3 of my recovery and OMG what a difference. I was able to easily get out of bed this morning and I’m walking g around and I even went to class today! I’m feeling so much better and I haven’t needed to take any pain meds yet today either which is fantastic! I even washed my hair this morning when I woke up ill keep you guys updated and let you know how I feel later on today!! I think I remember a few girls saying they had surgery today! Good luck!!
April 7th, 2010 at 5:21 pm
Emma! I’m glad to hear that you are super excited!! I can’t wait to hear how you feel.. I decided I’m getting 375 implants and filling them to 400. I’m nervous that it wouldn’t look porportionate.. But, being 5’4 110 lbs it should be okay!!
Katie- 3 days and feeling great! That is freakin’ awesome!!! How long were your arms sore for? Did you need help like walking to the restroom or anything? My doctor said I’ll need help in the restroom pulling up my pants and all that stuff.. So.. we shall see..
Overall, I’m getting nervous.. Mainly about the size.. I hope that this is all normal.. I’m taking phenegran before I go to bed tonight to help me sleep.. Any last words of advice? I’ll keep you ladies posted tomorrow after the surgery!
April 7th, 2010 at 9:51 pm
Hey girls, I had my BA today. It went really well the surgery was at 7 am and I was home by noon, which is great because we live an hour and a half from the surgery center. I am happy to report that I am not in much just a little sore and tight. My Dr uses a rapid recovery method and very precise cutting and incision so I will contribute not being in much pain due to that. Does anyone know how long they take to start dropping? Good luck to all you girls having surgery tomorrow.
April 7th, 2010 at 10:45 pm
Hi girls,
It is differnt for everyone on how long it takes for the implants to drop. And it also makes a differnce if you got it behind the muscle Verse infront of muscle. I belive it will take longer for behind because the muscle makes it more tense. Good luck to all those who recently got their BA!! you will do fine and each day gets better.
Katie: Just becarful in lifting your arms to wash the top of your head other then that you can get a shower. It will feel painful when you lift them higher and even when you shave your armpits..lol but you will be fine.
Emma: Not everyonne needs drains I lucked out and didnt need them.
April 7th, 2010 at 11:16 pm
Ashley- My arms were VERY sore on day one and for most of day 2 but by the end of day 2 i was moving them around much more!! and I didn’t have anyone staying with me, I just had a friend checking up on me every now and then, but i could go to the bathroom without help but im sure it would have been much easier if i had someone there to help me!! But like I said earlier I went to class today and everything was fine, I will say though don’t underestimate how much energy it takes out of you!!! I was so tired when i got home from class!! But I can walk around and everything just fine…I was supposed to work tomorrow but I’m going to take one last day off and I’ll go back to work on Friday!!! I’ll keep you guys updated on my recovery!! Oh and if anyone was wondering, I barely have any bruising, I got one small bruise but its so far over its almost on my ribcage but thats the only one!!
April 8th, 2010 at 1:03 pm
Thanks ladies for all your support! 2 hours 30 minutes I have to be there. I took phenegran to help me sleep, but they didn’t help me sleep at all! I got all anxious feeling and couldn’t stop moving. Very annoying. I slept right through my 8am last call for water, apple juice and cranberry juice! So, needless to say I’m a little thirsty!! I have protein drinks and food ready to go for when I’m wanting to eat.
I will keep you all in my prayers and thoughts as I go down for my medicated nap
Good luck Miss Emma and to all who have theirs coming shortly!
April 8th, 2010 at 3:37 pm
Hey ladies!!! Its recovery day 4 for me!! And I feel fantastic! I finally took a shower today! I was able to wash my hair, shave my legs and my underarms!! So i’d say I’m pretty much back to normal with the exception that I still tire pretty quickly!! I’m pretty much off my pain meds as of now! So I am super excited about that and I can get in and out of bed no problem!! I was even thinking of going shopping today, boy am I excited to buy a bikini hehe!! I’ll keep you ladies updated!! I’d really like to tan but we’ll see about that!!! Talk to you guys soon!
April 8th, 2010 at 6:07 pm
Today is day 2! I feel great, I still have not experienced any pain, just tightness and a little sore. Good luck to all you ladies having surgery today. I’m so ready to find out my final bra size, I know they are somewhat swollen I just don’t feel it really, but I’ve been using cold packs on them on and off. Does anyone know anything that works good for scars? I would like to find something to use on the scar later on after the incision has closed.
April 9th, 2010 at 8:52 am
Hey got home today, everything went well…I cant help but think they dont look that big?? will they look bigger as they ‘fluff’?? I am wearing a 34 e sprts bra with the 420cc silicone partially under what is everyone elses size’s like?Am i just getting the boobie greed!!
Was so sick with medicine through the night but that can happen to me in general with strong pain killers, one breast is sorer than the other, not much appetite! taken paracetomol and ibrobrufen now as do still have quite a bit of pain.oh and i didnt need the drains!!
so glad everyone is on the mend!!
jenny have you thought about that bio oil stuff my friend used it and you can barely see them now.
looking forward to hear how u are ashley!! Jenny- did u get under muscle or over?
April 9th, 2010 at 12:02 pm
Hey Emma, thanks for the heads up on the bio oil. Yes, I got mine under the muscle. The dr I chose does a rapid recovery. He started me on a muscle relaxer and pain med the day before surgery and I continue those after surgery. Also when surgery is done he wants his patients to start moving their arms slowly above their head so as not to get stiff. They also had me start multivitamins and vit C 2wks before and also gave me a list of meds not to take 2wks before or 3 wks after. Ibuprofen and anything containing it also asprin and anything containing it. I believe it had something to do with causing blood to thin. I’ve followed everything he has said and am doing great. I xan move my arms above my head, was eating decently the first night, and showered the 2nd day. I do feel tight and a tiny sore where the incision is, which I think is gravity doing its job…lol. My dr also did not put me in a surgical bra so they could start settling to their natural position. Good luck and keep me updated Emmma!!
April 9th, 2010 at 12:14 pm
Good morning ladies! I am feeling great. Around 1045pm last night, I was in a lot of pain. I’ve been making sure I ate with my Percocet and Phenegran while drinking plenty of water, gatorade and apple juice. Since I didn’t do around 1045 I was in pain. I’ts 908am right now and I feel good. I’ve been making sure everytime I’ve been up to use the restroom I walk to the living room and walk around for a couple of minutes. More like turtle speed, but if I don’t want blood clots, it must be done!
I will be able to put my sports bra and support band on around 3. Not sure with what size of sports bra to get, I bought a 34C, even though I *used* to be a 32a. Do you think that’ll be large enought for me? My arms are a little sore but not as bad as I first thought. Boy, am I itchy! It’s hard to scratch haha. Emma I agree, one breast is more tender then the other one. I wonder why that is. I didn’t need drains either! WOOO!
Cold packs are not allowed for my recovery which sucks, but I’m making due. So, other then that things are great. I’ll update my progess during the next few days. I’m glad you all are recovering safely! You ladies are in my prayers!
April 9th, 2010 at 10:02 pm
I had a stupid question … I am going out tomorrow nite and I was wondering since I got my BA March24th will it hurt if I dont wear my bra for a night going out. I know its a big no..no. I just really want to wear this shirt and I cant wear the ugly tight bra with that top. HAHA Please give me your advice??
April 10th, 2010 at 2:14 am
I had my surgery on March 23rd of this month! I feel really good
I was never miserable at any point even the day of. I felt it is a tolerable pain. It feels more like a soreness from working out. If you can handle that type of “pain” you’ll be fine.
April 10th, 2010 at 11:29 am
omg iv went from doing great to awful today!!never slept at all last night and Being sick with medication and food!! hope after this day i will start feeling better again! Jenny your doctors method sounds very good!! I have not took any medication for seven hours and feel i could cry. They are rock solid at the top aswell is this normal??
has anyone had a day like this???
April 10th, 2010 at 1:22 pm
Emma- Thats how I was for the most part yesterday. I haven’t been able to sleep at all. My percocet is making me a little itchy, so I’ve been taking benedryl with my percocet so calm it down a little bit. My breasts feel hard at the top as well. I still haven’t showered yet, I’m going to get up and do that once I have my nap. I’m eating more and more each day. Are you eating anything with your medication? I found eating and taking the meds helped a lot. I’ve had a lot of soup, crackers, grilled cheese sandwhich’s. Ensure drinks are really good for you too.
The longest I’ve done without taking any medication was 5 hours and that was a big no no. I felt like I could just cry and cry. So, I’ve made sure I’ve taken it every 3.5 hours at the latest just to stay ontop of it.
April 10th, 2010 at 9:47 pm
My breast are very hard as well at the top as well. I don’t know if it helped you but it has helped me to cut my pain meds in half, I still get help with the sorness and I’m able to wean myself off, I don’t want to be all loopy at work monday so I was trying to slowly work off them. I don’t know about you all but I will be so glad when my skin and chest don’t feel so tight, that is the worst part for me. If yall have any other info keep me posted…good luck Emma and the rest of you girls!!
April 10th, 2010 at 10:53 pm
I had my BA yesterday I had it placed under the muscle I have no pain and I do not take the pain meds they gave me. I just feel pressure when I get up and into bed. I did not feel sick at all just make sure you eat first before your meds because that’s probably what helps me with not getting sick. I have no bruises at all either. I love my BA
April 11th, 2010 at 8:33 pm
Hey ladies!! I’m now 7 days post op!! And for the most part I feel great…I went back to work 5 days after surgery and I was able to function pretty well (and I work in retail, so its a lot of standing, walking, folding)! My left breast is A LOT less swollen then my right and it looks like it may have dropped a tiny bit where as my right breast is still very swollen and up higher…but I am also right handed which I have heard can alter how quickly that side unswells and drops! But, I did and still have visible bruising, I have one near the top of my left breast and I have bruises on my sides of both of my breast….and just today it feels as though my sternum has been bruised as well, but that just developed today and I’m not sure if its because I’m getting more feeling back and my skin is just very stretched there still…And just a few questions for everyone…
1. does anyone, like me, have one breast more swollen and higher than the other, mainly on the dominant side?
2. Does anyone have excruciating back pain??
3. How soon were you able to sleep on your side or stomach again?
My back has been killing me, I have knots, I’m pretty sure it is mainly from having to sleep on my back as I am naturally a side/stomach sleeper…but I just can’t do that yet, and to add to it I have to stand for hours and hours on a wood floor for my job so that doesn’t help out, but is anyone else experiencing that kind of pain? I’m wondering if my dr can prescribe a muscle relaxer for my back pain!!!
Well I know a lot of us have just gotten our BA’s so definitely keep updating how everyone is recovering!!!!
April 11th, 2010 at 8:35 pm
Oh and the last thing…mine were rock hard for about the first 5 days too but they started to soften up a little bit, but i think a lot of the hardness is really the swelling and your tense muscles!!!
April 12th, 2010 at 12:01 am
Katie- Glad to hear that you are able to go back to work. I go back on the 13th, my BA was on the 8th. So, I’m kind of nervous to see how I’ll do.
I have bruising on my sternum as well. I think thats it. I haven’t explored as much as I should
My left breast isn’t quite as swollen as my right. I’m right handed as well. It’s definitely visible that my implant is sitting higher up then my left one.
Are you wearing the white band? My PS says I have to wear it for a week but my post op appointment is Thursday so I’ll find out for how much longer.
I am also a side sleeper. I have had a horrible time sleeping. I can’t seem to get comfortable and my neck is killing me because I sleep in 1 position the entire time.
I can’t think of anything else that I’ve needed to ask questions about. I am only taking ibuprofen for the swelling every 4 hours now which I’m excited! I can’t wait to hear about you other ladies and suggestions!
April 12th, 2010 at 12:30 pm
Hello ladies, I’m getting my ba tomorrow 10:45 and I’m getting pretty nervous. I’ve quit smoking for 2weeks now but I smoked once last week when I knew I wasn’t supposed to. I haven’t been really eating healthy or been eating lots of veges or fruits so I’m getting pretty nervous about it too. I’m getting silicone, under the muscle and currently am an a going to a full c. The doc said my breasts were so firm and not strechy type so was wondering if my skin was going to stretch a lot. Anyways. I must go buy a sportsbra and they told me to get a size that I’m comfortable now so I will be buying an a cup and gotta go pick up the medications. Wish me luck!
April 12th, 2010 at 12:41 pm
Ashley- thanks thats great to know i wasnt the only one feeling weepy!! Having a better time now!
Dont know if this will help any you girls but iv been taken nytol-herbal remedy tablet to make you feel drowsy and sleepy just to try and help get a better sleep.I also got nausea/movement tablets for the sickness which helped!
Katie -I have had the same problem with the back pain and so far all iv being doing is having regular baths and just soaking the lower muscles – helps a bit! Just now my breasts seem to have equal swolleness. Also katie how do you feel after a day at work – like you need to go home and relax or still have energy?
Cat wait to be able to enjoy the results once this stage is over! Think iv scared my boyfriend lol!
Curious to what the white band is?? Iv just got an ordinary sports bra on, which iv been told to keep on for 6 weeks, after a week think im allowed to change it to a fresh one.
Sooo glad iv got all you ladies to check in with!!
April 12th, 2010 at 2:12 pm
Ashley-I’m not sure what the white band is? My doctor has given me a surgical compression bra that I have to wear for two weeks..and I’ve tried wearing a “real” bra since I do work in retail and the ugly grandma bra just doesn’t cut it for some of the things I wear lol but it was very uncomfortable for me so I’m gonna be listening to doctors orders until I can wear a “real” bra again haha
Emma-After my day at work I still have energy, my only problem is by the time I get off of work my back is in such pain that I don’t want to do anything else…So that is the only downfall for me
But otherwise I am doing well, the tightness has pretty much gone away on my left side, now I just want it to go away on my right urgh!! Oh well it will all happen in time, I just don’t like waiting…
Hope you ladies are doing well with your recoveries!! I’ll probably be back on here later tonight for an update!!
April 13th, 2010 at 10:16 pm
Hey Ladies!
Quick question for you guys! I am having a horrible pain/burning sensation in my incision site. Are anyone of you experiencing this? What are you guys doing about the pain? It is not very comfortable at times and I just want it to go away? Suggestions?
April 14th, 2010 at 9:55 am
I got my surgery yesterday and gosh, I’m such in a pain. I can’t do anything without anyone taking care of me and this is just not funny. I don’t get a horrible pain in my incision site but I do feel a lil bit of pain when I try to move my arm.(since I got it through armpit)
I threw up twice so far and vcodin is really helping me a lot but the other pill that I’m taking; whenever I take them I geet really sick and keeps throwing up. Laying down and getting up is such a hell for me..
April 15th, 2010 at 11:48 pm
ok guys… i got my implants on march 22 2010.. and my left breast is MUCH larger than the right!! when i called the dr they told me to be patient cause it had only been 3 weeks…. any one else have this problem??
April 16th, 2010 at 12:23 pm
Mommy of 2- It’s only been 8 days since my BA and my right breast is larger then my left. At my post-op yesterday the doctor said it was normal and it’s just due to swelling. It’ll go away. Doing exercises will help relax the muscle and the implants will drop, so he encouraged me to do them as much as I can a day.
Question for all the tanners: I am going nuts not going tanning. I haven’t gone in 3 weeks. Any suggestions on what I do should? Do I need to wear sunscreen spf 15(?) on just my breasts and cover them including my incision with the towel ?
April 16th, 2010 at 1:37 pm
This post and all comments have been soooo helpfull. I’m going in for my surgery may 13th and now I can’t make up my mind as to what size to go…..I’m 5’6 113lb and totaly flat lol and from what I’m reading and hearing from others they all say the same “go bigger” I just don’t want to look huge and my PS said he wouldn’t go more than 360…..I’m going under muscle and need help as far as the size and profile
April 17th, 2010 at 2:57 am
Kasey- How did they let you go home dear?? I wasn’t allowed to have my surgery until my mom signed the paper saying she’ll be with me for the first 24 hours. Interesting. I had my good friend Chris stay with me as well. He helped me up every couple of hours to get in and out of bed. I’m glad he was there. I sure did need it.
As for feeling sick, I was prescribed Phenegran for the nausea that was taken with my Percocet. I made it a habit to eat food such as crackers or a piece of toast whenever I took my medication. Then washed it down with either Gatorade, Apple Juice, Ensure or water. When it came to sleeping it’ll be helpful to sleep with like 7-8 pillows. Surrounding me of course. I grabbed onto the blanket infront of me to help pull me up. Try that if you’re still in pain.
Undecided- Congrats on your BA in May! Can’t wait to hear how it goes. What helped me on choosing my size was I used google and put in my height, weight, and suggested CC’s. So, when I googled I input 5’4, 110lbs, 400ccs you’ll get ton’s of websites. My favorite one was with some place down in Long Beach, CA. I was hung up on 375 or 400. So, since the only difference is 2 tbsp. Good luck and let me know if anything was helpful!
April 18th, 2010 at 6:17 am
if deciding between implant sizes go for the bigger one!! Now my swelling is goin down i am paranoid about them not looking as big!
Been back at work after 6 days and stopped taking the painkillers the night before that really, just taking arnica herbal tablets for swelling. feeling great. Also went out night out last night and felt so normal just wore a one shouldered dress and tucked my ugly bra strap at the other side in so no-one would get suspicious!
One bad thing was i was in a shop and was trying on a dress that would normally fit and got stuck felt a bit fat – is that how its going to be thatin tight dresses i will have to go up a size to fit the boob but it wont fit as nice everywhere else??
Kasey- honestly it will pass, i was the same and you think it wont go away but it does and you will feel so much better and start to be able to enjoy your new look – I would ask your doc. if its vital that you take the tablet thats making you sick because i did get the ones that were making me sick removed and just took the other ones a little more regularly, apple juice does help give your body the fluid and vitamins and like ashley said the nausea tablets do work also. by the time your back on now kasey i bet you will be feeling millions better hopefully!
when are you suppose to start massaging girls???
April 18th, 2010 at 11:14 pm
I just wanted to thank everyone for your posts. I am having BA on May 25th and you all have answered so many of my questions. My only unanswered question is what in the world can I wear to work afterwards? I have an office job so I won’t be up much on my feet but I am really concerned about what type of shirt I can wear while swollen. I’ve heard that I will never be able to wear button-up shirts anymore.. Anyone else heard of this?
April 19th, 2010 at 11:06 am
Ok let’s see.. its been 6 days and I’m feeling better every day! It was my first day drivving today ever since the surgery and while I was parking, it was so hard I laughed at myself. No joke. I’m taking out my stitches in 2 days and I’m going back to work this Thursday.
While I was massaging my breasts, I felt a lil drop of liquod coming out from my nipple and went to my doc to tell him about it. He said it happens when u massage them and seemed like milk was coming out but how is that possible? I’m not pregnant? I was kinda skeptical about it but oh well.
After I massage them my breasts get so softer I love it. I’m loving the way my breasts look!
April 21st, 2010 at 4:49 pm
Ashley – thank you so much i will play with that and see if that will help me with the size……hopefully i wont regret i go in next Wednesday for the pre-op appointment i guess and no turning back LOL
21 days to go im more nervous now than i was when i made the appointment
April 21st, 2010 at 8:56 pm
Hello ladies! I had my surgery 3 months ago. I was a 32B and now I am a 34D. I still have knumbness on the sizes of my boobs and they are a little stiff still. I’ve been doing a lot of massaging and Im hoping when they drop they will be 34C cup. Do you think they will go down a size in the next couple months? Did any of yours get smaller after they dropped?
April 21st, 2010 at 8:57 pm
Oh also I got 350cc left and 375cc right silicone implants
April 22nd, 2010 at 1:15 pm
I wanted to gofull c so I put 350cc on my left and 375 on my right. Its been aweek and I’ve tried wearing a b size bra and it fits perfectly. I feel like its not a c, not even close. I haven’t taken off my dstiches yet, I was supposed to but the doc said wait another week. My boobs get swollen after I get up in the morning, is this normal? I don’t always wear sportsbra bcuhs its hideous but when I go to sleep I always wear them. I’ve been massaging my boobs lately. And its getting sexier and sexier everyday
April 22nd, 2010 at 5:16 pm
I had my BA last Friday and it has been very painful for me. I took all of my pain pills and getting out of bed I had a burning sensation that felt like my skin being torn off. I got a little better moving each day and it will be a week tomorrow. I was a 34B and I got the silicone gel 550cc’s. I was told by everyone go bigger or you will regret it they will shrink and you will wish you were bigger. They are absolutely huge to me! I wanted a large c or small D but they look huge!!!! They are very tight high and pointed like a cone. Not any of the skin will move on them. They are not bruised they are sore but the size has me horrified! I am 5’5!/2 and weigh 140 lbs.
My worrying is making my blood pressure way to high. 154/103. Does anyone know if they will get smaller?
April 23rd, 2010 at 6:43 am
I just set up my BA yesterday for May 14th. I’m soo excited because I am getting married on August 7th and want to feel my absolute best! I’m 5’8 1/2 ,138lbs and currently a small 34B cup. I’m curious as to how many cc’s I would need to be a full C. I don’t really want to be a D or DD. My doc says he probably wants to do a 375cc and overfill to 390. I’m just really worried about going too big. Any advice??
April 24th, 2010 at 3:41 am
Hey ladies! I’m now just about 3 weeks post open! Yay and my breast size is really starting to even out I’m so excited! And I went tanning today for the first time since my surgery thanks God! I was getting pretty pale!
Sarah- are you sure 390 will get you to the size You want? I’m 5’2 and 110 lbs and got 275 filled to 320 and I’m a c right now but I am still swollen…
April 25th, 2010 at 9:05 am
Every wants them to go down and I want mine to stay big lol! My boyfriend nearly dies when I told him I was considering going bigger, massaing is great for he shape! I was getting very sore nipples but that seems to have eased off but ive heard that that can go on for a long time and you can continue to get sensations the rest of the time you have the implants.
Feel like i need to work out been trying to do as much walkiing as possible when did any you girls start working out again?
Sarah- a D seems big when you are a B but when its in a bra ad clothed it doesnt look too big at all.
Sweatpea- 550cc are big but they will still get smaller i’d imagine what size sports bra are you in?, I got 420cc and started in an Ecup and am now in DD and wished i’d perhaps went 475-500,once mines seemed to start to go down more towrds the end of the second week so perhaps then they will start to be less tight – aso mine were a bit pointy to begin with and again after the two weeks and with starting the massaging they rounded more.
Glad to see everybody is starting to enjoy their new looks!!
April 25th, 2010 at 9:42 am
Katie- what was your starting size? Are you saying that I will end up bigger than I want?
My surgery has been moved to May 4th, waaay sooner. It seems like these sizes look different on everyone. Is there anything they want you to do the week before to prepare?
April 26th, 2010 at 3:26 am
Sarah-I was a 32a starting out…I was saying 390 might not be big enough….people can’t even tell I got mine…I basiclly (without a bra) now look like I did with my padded bras!
Your surgeon should have told you. What to do prior…its more a list of what not to do though!
April 26th, 2010 at 10:27 am
Thanks Katie! I just don’t want them to be gawkingly noticeable. I appreciate the advice.
Maybe 390 will be just fine.
April 27th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
My surgery is tomorrow and I’m so nervous/excited!! This blog is just what I needed to hear! Thanks so much!
May 1st, 2010 at 7:12 am
I just had surgery on wednesday. I am in soo much pain. I have never felt this kind of pain, not even giving birth to two kids naturally was this painful!! Is anyone else in a lot of pain.
I also have two drains in and that seems to be the source of most of my pain. That and my lower back is killing me.
My dr. said I have to have these stupid drains in for a week. I cannot handle a week of this. Id rather give birth everyday of the year than deal with this pain. I am on vicodin and hydrocodene + muscle relaxer + anxiety pill + antibiotics to prevent infection.
Oh and my dr said I cant shower for 2 weeks!! help!!! I am on day 4 of not showering and I feel disgusting.
I got 400cc’s under the muscle and they look gigantic to me. I am 5’6 and 128lbs.
May 2nd, 2010 at 7:50 pm
Hey Ladies!
It has been almost a month since my BA!!! It really has gone by sooooooo quickly.. Congratulations on all the new ladies who just had their’s done!!
Carolyn- I used baby wipes for the first couple of days I couldn’t shower. My PS said I could shower 24 hrs after my surgery but I had waited 2 days because I was still drugged up
Yours will slowly start to calm down here in a couple of weeks. I’m 5’4ish 110lbs and I got 375ccs filled to 400ccs under the muscle.. Starting from a 32a-32d right now. But, I’m waiting for them to drop so I can be a C. Are you doing your exercises?? That really does help with the swelling and dropping. I forced myself to do them the day after. A week later I had my stitches taken out and was able to do more stretches that will help.
How is everyone doing with the tanning? I’ve gone twice and I felt great afterwards. I’m not doing the full time because I’m being cautious.. Has anyone else discovered sensitivity? I know for me the girls get a little irritated while wearing the sports bra. And when it gets cold the nipples hurt. I can’t really explain it. How long is this going to last for?
Thanks for all the great updates ladies! I know you all loook fabulous!!
May 3rd, 2010 at 10:22 am
My surgery is tomorrow. When I read these posts, sometimes I’m more excited and sometimes I’m more scared! I guess that’s the way it goes, each woman heals differently. I’m still not sure what size I want to be.
May 3rd, 2010 at 8:10 pm
Hey Ladies
After reading all your comments I feel completely ready to have my surgery. *Since its a week from today on May 10th 2010* I went to my doctor knowing that I wanted to go through the arm pit, under the muscle, and wanted high profile, but I don’t want them to have that real round look at the tops. Have anyone of you ladies went through the arm-pit, and if so how was your healing process? I’ve came to the conclusion after reading how some felt they looked different after the swelling went down, and decided not to look in a floor length mirror for a couple of weeks, though this will be hard to fight the excitement. Thanks for all your posts, and I’ll update you ladies as soon.
May 4th, 2010 at 12:18 pm
Hey, Ashley just wondering since we are at about the sam stage are you working out yet? I have been told not to work out until like 6-8weeks but I really need to start running or something (lol i put on weight very quickly!!)
When did everyone else hit the gym or exercise again?
How soon after can you go swimming?
Any the girls that implant got put in under the crease is you scars completely hidden by the breast crease i feel like one of mine is quite on show??
LOL wish i was just going in for the op i would defo go bigger than i went.
May 5th, 2010 at 3:20 am
Hey ladies I’m about 4 1/2 weeks po now! And feeling great! The right one is still giving me a hard time dropping butt I’m waiting it out!
Emma-I was told 6 weeks on exercise too but I think I could start now…I went to an amusement park thiis weekend and I was fine on roller coasters and what not so I feel if the girls can handle that they can handle the gym…although I did hear you were supposed to wait considerably longer to swim..
And and an update I’m 5’2w 110 lbs I was a 32a I got 275cc filled to 320 cc unders and in the crease and I’m about a 32d, and I do wish I had gone larger many ppl can’t even notice the change.
Oh and emma my scars are not hidden by the breast crease maybe when they are done dropping but def not now lol
May 5th, 2010 at 11:34 pm
Emma- I don’t work out all that often. I would do some chest work outs with the dumbells definitely. I know I can go running here by week 6 including going on boats. As far as I’m concerned about swimming/hot tubs you should be in the clear by now. I had to wait 3 weeks after my 1 week post op. I think they wanted to make sure the incision is closed by having the sutures dissolved.
Katie- You’re right one is higher too! Ugh it’s starting to frustrate me. I took a picture and it’s totally noticeable! I hope it goes down soon as well. Yeah, I’m getting the same reaction that people can’t really notice. I do and that all that matters, but, I would like a comment from time to time
Sarah- How are you doing doll? It’s been a day since your surgery, we’re all curious to see how you’re holding up!! We’re here for you!
Kayla- The excitement is just going to continue to grow until your surgery day! I was completely nervous almost to the point of not wanting to do it lol. Glad I did! I also considered the arm pit method, but I didn’t feel comfortable not shaving or using deoderant for a month. No thank you!! Oh sweetie, you’re going to want to look in the mirror all the time. It’s so much fun
GL on your surgery and keep us posted!!
May 6th, 2010 at 11:14 am
Ashley, Thanks for your concern!!
The surgery went very well. It was extremely painful during the surgery and right after because I wasn’t all the way under (conscious sedation). It was kind of scary becasue I didn’t expect to feel so much of the surgery and pain. The first few hours were TERRIBLE. The GREAT news is, later that evening after sleeping for a while and several pain pills I started to feel pretty good. Like everyone says getting up after laying down is the worst. But after I’m up I’m able to walk around with ease. Day 2, which was yesterday was a great day! I was doing everything for myself and even reaching for things! I went out to lunch with my sister and even managed to go shopping for an hour. Day 3, today, I feel terrfic. I have been cleaning my house a little and even washed my hair. Later today I go back to get the dressings removed. I’m soo excited to see how these girls look!
May 11th, 2010 at 12:24 pm
I have a question. Did you have a hard time shaving under your arms? I had my BA on 4/29/10 (12 days ago). My pecs feel so tight I can’t really straighten my arms enough so there is a dimple instead of a flat space in my armpit. When can you raise your arms straight above your head again?
May 11th, 2010 at 1:13 pm
Hi ladies! This is a fabulous board! My BA is scheduled for May 26. I am supposed to travel for work on June 1 (6 days later) for two days. The flight would be 1.5 hours and I will be in training for 2 days (at a computer). I was just wondering for those of you who have already had surgery, do you think 6 days is enough time for recovery before I travel? My doc thinks it should be fine but I might be a little sore. What do you think? How were you feeling 6 days post-op? I am having saline implants under the muscle. No lift. Thanks!
May 11th, 2010 at 5:22 pm
Camille- I am shaving my underarms easier than usual because they are still haven’t moved over too much. Where was your incision? Mine was underneath the breast at the fold. I raised my arms above my head about the 3rd or 4th day. I had my surgery exactly one week ago.
Lucy- Congrats on your scheduled appointment! I worked the 5th day after my surgery and could honestly have worked the 4th day. I am in good shape, had been going to the gym like 5 days a week so that may have had something to do with it. I don’t think you will have a problem, especially since you will mainly be at a computer. I work at the Customer Service counter at Best Buy and had to be constantly moving around and lifting small to medium objects.
May 14th, 2010 at 10:51 pm
Hey Ladies
It’ll be a week Monday, and I couldn’t be better. The day of my surgery I was super excited, and ready to get my boobs!! The hospital staff was very friendly, and welling to go out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Right before surgery my surgeon came into my room to do my markings and that’s when my nerves started to run rapid. He calmed me and told me that it’s very normal to be nervous, anyway I slightly remember rolling into the op room, and it was a blur from there. My mom and boyfriend said they waited about 45 minutes, which I guess is pretty normal. The first two days were extremely pain full, and I think the most critical. I needed help doing everything, and when getting up and down I felt like I had a ton of bricks on my chest. I called the surgeon today and he said I could remove my steri strips, and loosen my ace bandage (which was extremely tight)!! As of now, I can’t really say what they look like besides their pointy looking and very high (I got high profile). I can’t wait for them to start settling more, and when I get to see the final results. I’ll keep you ladies updated!!
Did any of your alls breast look pointy at first?
May 15th, 2010 at 9:56 am
Kayla- yes mine were very pointy at first. Its been about 12 days since my BA and they are looking much, much better. I still don’t have cleavage though because I’m naturally kind of far apart and they haven’t softened up all the way.
May 15th, 2010 at 9:23 pm
Hey guys, i’m 18 years old (i know most of you will probably give me crap for this) but i’ve been thinking about this for atleast 3 years now, and have decided to go ahead and get them. I’m 5’9 and around 115 lbs. I have a small but athletic build, and i’m a really really small A! I don’t want to go too big, because i’ll look completely unpropotioned –so i’m thinking a large B/full C? What do you think? Any suggestions?
May 15th, 2010 at 9:24 pm
oops i meant /small c! ^^^

Sarah: Thank you for your replie, I was starting to worry I’d have pointy boobs for the rest of my life!!
Natalie: Nothing is wrong at all with getting breat implants at 18, I got mine last Monday and I’m just 19. My boyfriend’s mother is about your build and had a small A, and she went with a Full B. It looks very natural, and not at all unpropotioned. Good Luck with everything!!

Hey ladies had my BA may 7th and I had saline implants put in.I got 470cc’s on my right side and 440cc’s on my left side.when I first took the bandages off my breasts were extremely pointy and high!! But my right side has droppd a lot and looks great and full and round but my left breast is higher and “bigger” looking.I hope that changes sooer than later.I feel so lost tho bc my ps told me to go braless for 2-3wks and I come on here and a lot of yall r not going braless and he also told me not to lift my arms above my head for 4-6wks.is my ps an idiot or wat? Should I be wearing a sports bra or wat? I wonder hw long it takes for the implants to “fluff”? So many questions…they look great and I’m just hoping I get the double d’s like I wanted.I was a 34c and I told him to make me a dd.

I meant I was a 34A

Christi: I completely understand how you’re feeling!!! I had my BA May 10th with saline under the muscle. My left breast is dropping and looking normal but still not round (which is what I want), while my right breast is still high and pointy. I went to my doctor on the 17th and he told me to go bra less so the gravity will push my implants down. He also taught me a massage that is supposed to make them drop. I along with you think that going bra less is weird, but if it’ll work. I don’t remember my doctor telling me not to lift my arms above my head, but I’ll take your doctor’s advice ( because I kind of been doing it). I agree I want mine to “fluff” also, and it’s so depressing when the process takes so long before you see results. I’m starting to worry that they won’t heal like I want. Please keep us updated and Good Luck with everything!!

Wow this is a great website. I had my surgery May 10th and now feeling great. The first few days were rough. Now the only thing that is bugging me is my right side looks kinda flatter and seems like it is in my armpit. Anyone know what is going on with this? I also got a white strap bandage thing that is supposed to help the dropping factor of everyting. The doctor and nurses told me to wear this for 3 wks all the time then for 3wks after just during the day. Has anyone elsa had to do this? Other than the looking goofy factor of my p.o. I am feeling great. I have one question how much smaller does the breast size get after the swelling is gone. I like the size they are now and hope they do not get much smaller
Thank you and I hope everyone has a great time with there new girls!!

Hi Ladies,
I am so relieved that I found this site. You guys have helped with so many questions that I had and reassurance that I needed. I am scheduled for my surgery on June 16th, 2010. I am 5’7, 155 lbs, with an athletic , medium frame. I am a 34c and want to be a 36b. Since my dr. explained to me not to go with a projected size- go for the look that you want; I decided on 400cc on one and 425cc on the other one. I am, just like the others that I’ve read, super anxious, excited, and scared at the same time. Victoria Secret currently has the semi- annual sale going on and I’m flipping out that I can’t catch the sale because I don’t know what size thta I’m going to be. I called VS and the rep stated that this sale will continue until July 13th. I wonder if I’ll know my size by then. What do you gals think? My main concern and I couldn’t stress it enough to my doctor is that I do not want to look like a BIMBO! I understand that they will lokk swolen in the beginning, but please dear God – Do not make me take over the BIMBO role:-( I would be in tears, daily:-( Like another comment from another lady; I am also a teacher and chose this date because it’s a week after school lets out and I have to summer to recoup and get used to them. I did tell a few coworkers only because I wanted to hear thier stories about thier experiences and to get advice. I decided to get the incision under the nipple- half way not the entire nipple. A coworker told me that her sister lost all feeling when she did hers around the entire nipple. Has anyone else had that experience- loss of sensation? I’ve placed this site in my favorites. Wish me luck:-) It’s at 7am, I have to be there at 6am. I’m horrible with pain. I’ve had a c-section which is a piece of cake to many, but it was the worst for me- staples and all:-( So I’m just wondering what it’s going to be like since everyone is different. My mom is coming over to stay with me for a week to help with my son while my hubby goes back to work. They are both against it and say that I’m fine the way I am, but I’m sure that you ladies know the feeling that you just want to look better.

do you ladys think 450cc to 500cc are to big 5’5 140lb
June 19th, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Its been 11 days since my BA (375cc Saline, under the muscle) and the are still sitting high, somewhat pointy and hard. I was also hoping to catch the VS sale, but at this point in time, I’m not too sure if I’m going to make it. I’ve been doing my massages religiously, and instead of wearing a bra was given a white elasticy band to wear which helps to push them down. I hope the dropping and fluffing starts soon so I can catch the sale!!
It’s also my birthday next weekend and I am hoping to wear a cute top… Does anyone know if it would hurt to go one night without the band? Or attempt to wear a normal bra? My incisions are in my armpits so I am not worried about irritation… Just concerns with dropping, comfort and of course filling one out!…Thanks!!!

its the summer and i have a 14 month baby boy who keeps me extremely busy. I find it difficult to keep from picking him up and placing him back and fourth into his carriage bed etc. My surgery was a month ago to be precise and i’m concerned because after 3 wks i began taking care of my son. Now i have been lifting him constantly and eventhough i try in avoid stairs my room is on the 2nd fl. At this point i probably haven’t listen to my doctors advice but i have been lucky my breast look fine and i’m 5’1 105 lbs and 410c which i like they don’t look extremely big they look very natural. I also really want to tan outdoors and take my son to the pool does anyone know if by covering up my chest help my healing and scar process our what options are available.

Hey ladies, I am glad I found this site. I am thinking about have BA done but am very nervous. I am 5’7 115 lbs and have a very very small A, I mean almost board flat..lol. I am thinking about getting a large B to a C. How much does the breasts swell up after the surgery? Once the swelling goes down how much will they as some call it shrink? I have been saving up to get this done and want to be happy with the results, I dont want any regrets. Any advice for me? And also what is the deal with smoking? I am trying to quit but I need some inspiration lol.. Thanks Ladies

Hi, I had mine done Aug 3rd. I originally found this site because of the tanning issue. Still haven’t heard much about why not to tan the breasts themselves, but was told not to get expose the incisions. I am 42, 5’4″, 120 lbs and was barely a 34A, I lost all my volume from breastfeeding, but never had shapely breasts to begin with, At most I was a 34 B before my 4 kids. I considered this for years and have very supportive friends and sisters who have helped ease my guilt over the expense of doing it. Everything has gone wonderfully for me, hardly any pain (other than the constant “let down” breastfeeding sensation). I have been surprised by the sportadic pain high across my chest and the sterum discomfort. But other than that, it’s gone well. Still can’t do something, like use a vacuum, or drive stick shift with out discomfort. I went tanning about 5 days after surgery, making sure to cover the incisions with a towel and my arms, but now read about the breasts themselves needing to be covered. I hope someone has more info on this?

Hey I just found this site. I am 30 yrs old, 1 son age 4, 125 & 5’4 I got my BA, lift & lypo in my arms almost 2 yrs ago August 29, 2008. I still remember the pain like it was yesterday. It felt like alot of pressure on my chest & they looked like snoopy dogs. I was a full C & went to DD 420 in one & 460cc in the other. I would do it all over again, I love my new boobs. I am still to this day scared to sleep on my tummy thinking they will pop. I also havent been tanning in 1 1/2 yrs but am ready to go back soon. I think this is an awesome site. It is so helpful & good to hear about other stories.

Wow, so much helpful information here!! I’m 2 weeks away from my BA and soooo excited but nervous too. I’m not so much worried about the pain because I know it will be worth it in the end. However, like most everyone else, I’m worried about the size. I’m 5’3″ (on a good day, lol) and weigh 108 lbs and currently am a 32C. I’m getting the silicon high profiles under the muscle and going for 450-500ccs. Everyone keeps saying thats really big, but I also hear all my girlfriends tell me they wish they went bigger after all was done. HELP!! I’m a lot smaller than most of the people I know with them so its just so hard to figure out whats right for me. I tried the test by filling plastic bags with 500ccs (2 cups) of instant grits and wore them around my house for the day, but I found it to ridiculous to really be helpful. Anyone close to my size with advice??

I have a BA scheduled for next week wednesday. I’m very scared but also excited. I have done my research. I am a small 34 B and I am getting 280cc-300cc silicone, under the muscle, incision in my breast crease. I smoke hubbly but only once a week. My PS did not say anything to me about stopping. I am going on a ship cruise the 26 Nov. Will I be fine to go, because I want to swim and dance???? PLEASE come back to me ASAP. I need to make a decision and any advice will be appreciated.

February 18th, 2011 at 3:32 pm
I am going to have implants done on March 3. I don’t really know what cc to ask for. I am really confused. I am a 34a right now. I have two kids and I breast feed my last one until he was 16 mths old. I am only 24 and I don’t want to pay all this money and get them too small. I am afraid of that. I don’t really have enough money to go back and get them bigger if they are too small. What do all of you suggest. I am 125 pound and I am 5’4. What cc should I ask for? Please help me.

Hey,I had my breasts done through a surgery in london, that also operates in cyprus (larnaca) it has been 10 weeks now and the scars are nearly healed and the surgeon did such a neat job I am so pleased with them. I’m a size 8 in clothes, I had 485ccs which has now taken me up to a f/g I had high profile ones over the muscle as I said to the surgeon I want them to look like I’ve had them done and more of a fake look, I recommend to go up 1 of to sizes then u actully want as the swelling does go down, its the best thing I’ve ever done!! Xx

Shea- I am 24yrs old and I had mine done last September. I was a big A small B. I got 350cc silicone. I am now a C. I didn’t want huge boobs, as a mother, I just wanted to fill out clothing. Everyone tells you to go bigger but I love mine. Not too big not too small. I am 5’4 and 127lbs. Also remember if you are active, bigger boobs means more weight when running. I am in the military and just with 350cc I have to wear 2 sportsbras. Hope this helps! It should be a breeze. I had mine on a Thursday and was playing baseball with the little ones on Sunday back at work on Tuesday!
February 25th, 2011 at 8:26 pm
Janna- Thank you for helping me on a size that fits with my body. I think that would be a great size for me. I do like sports. When did all the swelling go down and when was you able to wear a regular bra if you don’t mind me asking? I am going March 3 to have my BA done. I am very curious. I don’t know what to expect. How long did it take you to recover. Thank you for all the help Janna!

Had Lift & Memory Silicone Implants done Dec. 27, 2010. I’m 5’9 and 149 lb. I’m 46 and went from a 36b to a 38d. I had very little swelling and only had 1 bruise about the size of a quarter. I was back to work in 2 weeks and playing golf in 6. My husband wouldn’t let me doing anything for my self for the first week and I think that made a big difference. It was hard cause I’m not one to lay around and I’m always on the go. But it makes a world of difference on your healing. I would do it again in a heart beat. Thank you on the tanning info. I am a tanning bed fanatic and had wondered about if getting too hot made a differance. My Dr & his staff was wonderful and always answered any questions I ever had. Was give home no#’s after surgery to call if needed. I was fully released at 4 months because I had done so well. Do everything your Dr says and go above & beyond to take care of the work he has preformed. It looks good on him & YOU . I still do the exersizes to keep them soft and looking natural. Wouldn’t go any bigger just for the fact that I am very active and just the weight makes a difference. But make sure you reserch your Dr and I would only go with a Board Certified Plastic Surgen. Board Certified Surgens go thru more schooling & training and may be a little more exspensive. But your health, looks & life are worth it. Good Luck!

I had my BA done july 2009, I am 40, 5’3 and 127 lbs and a mother of 3. I was a 36 b and considered getting a d but my dr refused to go bigger than a c because of my frame size,he said they would look fake..im glad I didn’t push the issue and went with the c..I am so glad I listened to him.I am very happy, they look n feel natural,I have 400 cs’s and am a 36 large c.my recovery time was about 2 weeks but wasn’t able to return to work for 6 weeks due to the type of job I do.good luck to all and hope this helps.

I had my BA almost a month ago. I went from a B/C to a D. After having two children my breast seemed to lose a lot of volume so I wanted to fill them back in. I decided to go back to a D so I went with 400cc’s. I wish now that I would have gone a little bigger at 450 cc’s. I feel like I spent all that money and they are not as big as I thought. I am 5’4 130lbs and they do not look very big at all. I have run into friends that didn’t even notice anything until I mentioned it. Whatever you are thinking about going to, go a little bigger! My whole idea was NOT to look fake! I just think that if I had gone a little bigger I would fill my clothes out better. Good luck!

I’m having my consultation in a couple of weeks.I didn’t know that you’re not allowed to smoke.I’m a heavy smoker.(2 packs a day).I don’t know if I’m going to be able to quit.Do you have to quit?I’m also going on a cruise 4 weeks after my surgery.I want to be able to do everything.Should I wait until after my cruise to have my surgery?I’m probably going to have implants and a lift.

I had BA 13 months ago and I’m very pleased with the results. I went from a 34 AA to a 34 small C. The only thing that I’m frustrated with is the fact that I can’t seem to do any situps without chest pains around my breasts. I love to exercise and I use to do 150 situps a day before my BA surgery. Now I can’t even do 20 a day without sharp pains around my breasts. Has anyone ever had this experience and any advice. Thanks

I’m 42 size 10, height 5ft10. My doc is the one of the best worldwide. He recommended that since i was 36b i should go for 395cc silicone implants. I had my BA last week. Had to spend all week rested as i was in pain since i had a very tight bandage around my chest. doc removed the bandage after 1 wk and gave me another one for the top part of the chest so that my breasts will fall into place. he wont let me take off the tight top bandage and wear a bra before 3 wks and this is keeping me indoors. I cant understand how some of you say that you go back to work cos i cant go outdoors with my bandage showing from under the clothes and with no bra. After a week my breasts are still very high and very hard. However on the whole, I am very happy and pleased with the size and the result.

Thanks for sharing your story! My story is very similar to yours. I had my BA 5 days ago and it is the BEST thing I have ever done too. I feel much more confident with my overall appearance. My breast were a 34 A/B and after my BA they are measuring a 34 D. I had the 375cc Mentor Saline over filled to 425cc placed under the muscle through a 1in crease incision. The only bandage I have on my breast is one small steri strip on the crease incision. For two weeks after the procedure I do not have to wear a support bra. I could shower the day after my procedure. My breast have no bruising, my nipple size did not increase, and my breast are perfectly aligned with one another. My surgeon is known for being a perfectionist, the pre-op nurse said his procedures can sometimes run over the scheduled time because he is very particular about the work he does. My anesthesiologist was amazing too, I remember nothing and felt nothing during the 3 hour procedure. I woke up comfortably sedated and tired. I felt no pain until the next day and the pain was minimal, i kept wondering when the pain was going to kick in. If anyone is from the Indianapolis area, I stronger recommend Dr. David S. Slatton. His BA work caught my eye when I was researching PS in the Indianapolis area. I have been so incredibly pleased with the care provided and blown away with the minimal post-op pain I have had. I begin feeling like myself after the second day and I stopped taking pain medication during the day on day three. I only take the pain medication at night to help me sleep since I cannot get comfortable sleeping propped up. This was the easiest thing I have ever done and am wondering why I waited so long to do this. I love my new boobies!!
Thanks everyone for sharing your stories!
