Breast Implants and Tanning Beds
I recently got breast implants but I am a frequent tanner and didn't want to lose my color. I was concerned that I would not be allowed to go in a tanning bed because of the recent surgery and found myself wondering what the correlation between breast implants and tanning beds was. Well let me clear all you breast implant, tanning bed, x-ray and going back to work questions up.
Breast implants and tanning beds are real simple to understand. For the first 3 weeks I believe your surgeon does not want you to go tanning at all. Sorry guys! I know that sucks to hear but you will be more satisfied with your new breasts then the tan! Once he give you the Ok or 3 weeks have passed you can go tanning. I found that tanning lotions are semi resistant to the skin around the breasts for quite some time but it does not effect the tan you get. Your tanning lotion might seem to peel or flake off which might seem strange to you but fear not! You MUST wear either band-aids, steri strips or cover the area where the scars are. Otherwise they will heal poorly and possibly get inflamed. You should continue this for quite some time, until your doctor has told you otherwise, which mine has not yet and it has been just about 3 months.
I got breast implants on March 29,2007. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Some might laugh at that statement but when your not satisfied with the way you look, you know what I mean. I was a small to medium B prior and now I am a 34 D. I was terrified but extremely excited. Everything was provided for me and when I say this I mean I had a ride to and from the surgery center, pain meds. for the after recovery period and about 10 days to be exact before I had any real activities to go back to like school and work. I believe that this procedure is perfectly safe, although several other sites and commenters might believe differently.
Some might think that the surgery is very painful and you will be off your feet for quite sometime, but I had a different experience. Breast implants for the first 30 days do look like they are set very high up. Fear not, they will drop a decent amount unless you told the surgeon to purposly put them high up. (I did) The first day after your surgery you will not feel too much pain. Yet on the other hand my two friends did the procedure shortly after me and felt different. They experience more pain then I did. One could not walk she was in so much pain and the other merely felt weak, tired and uncomfortable but that all disappeared after a week. For me on the other hand, and I remind you I do NOT handle pain well, felt better after 3 days. The first day you are very doped up on pain meds and you feel slight pain but mainly don't mind it and want to sleep. My throat hurt also, as to they put a tube down it to help your breathing. That too passes after a couple of days.
The most painful part I think was getting up and off your bed. It just feels very uncomfortable. I do not advise going to look for a bra anytime until 2-3 months have passed since your surgery. I got a couple of cheap ones about a month after and was a 34 C but now it has almost been 3 months and I had to buy all new bras today which were 34 D and don't even get me started on padded bra's. In simple terms... you do not need them and if you want to wear one it frankly feel very weird and compresses against the implant.
Can you have x-rays with breast implants? Yes you can. Although I believe the x-rays come out better and more accurate if you have the implants UNDER the muscle some choose to have it done over the muscle. When getting your surgery you have an option of either under or over, most people get under the muscle because it is safer, looks more natural and allows breast exams to be performed easily and accuratly. (For those of you with Breast Cancer in you family, like myself)
How soon after breast augmentation can you return to work? It definetley varies on the person but from my opinion and several people who have gotten it, you can usually return to work after a week to 2 weeks. For some like my boyfriends mother, you can return after just a few days, about 3 to be percise. I waited about 10 days before returning to anything extreme. You are not allowed to drive for a week and it is kind of weird once you start driving. NO talking on your cell phone in one hand and turning the wheel with the other. (I already tried that and it was pretty hard) They are still new and swollen and you should really use both hands. Even though seat belts are required by law and for your safety I recommend putting it on but putting the part that crosses over your chest in back of you. It feels better and prevents any rubbing which can be uncomfortable.
How long does it take to heal after breast augmentation? As I stated earlier I would say somewhere between a few days to a week and a half. You will feel great at times and others it might hit you and you might want to go home or lay down for bit. I felt it was a coming and going process. The official time I felt 100% Ok was 3 weeks after. I would say almost all of the pain, swelling, random aches and pains were gone. I was able to go to the gym again shortly after that. The doctor usually says about 6 weeks before you can go to the gym but in some cases like my own it might be shorter. You should definetly wait at least a month before begining your exercise routine again. DO NOT lift any weights for about 6 weeks or more. My surgeon told me after 6 weeks I can begin doing arm exercises again but I chose not to and waited till almost 2 months had passed. At first you are weak and you will probably get sore easily but you should regain all your ability in lifting weights back shortly. Some females find it difficult forever to lift weights afterwards.
What is and how to avoid capsular contraction after breast augmentation? This is when you gain lumping at the bottoms of your breasts. It is not a pleasant thing to experience and it looks quite ugly. It causes your breasts to harden and not get soft. Not many people get this problem but it does occur and especially in smokers. I was a smoker and I stopped smoking for a month before my surgery and about 2 months after. I did not have the problem. For those of you who are smokers, that is what I would recommend to do. Smoking is a major cause of capsular contraction. It is only fixable through surgery and I think very rarely through injections into the breast. Most often the scenario is that you need to have the surgery over again and hope that it doesn't happen again.
If you are wondering what size cc's to go I can tell you now that everyone looks different in the cc's. It depends on your frame and the width of your breasts. I got 350 implants filled up to 375 and I am now a decent size 34 D. Prior to surgery I was a 34 B in those infamous Victoria Secret padded bra's. This will not necessarily give you the same results. I heard that one way of seeing if you like the size you have decided to go is to get a zip lock bag and fill it with the same amount of water as cc's you would be getting. There are several sites which explain how the two correlate. You can also do the same with pantyhose and sand. I'm not too familiar with exactly how that one works though.
Well I think that should answer the bulk of your breast implant / breast augmentation questions so good luck on finding yourself a wonderful doctor!

Great summary! Thanks. I am getting mine May 7th, 2008.
thanks for the tanning advice, im only sixteen but i have implants and i’ve been wondering for a while if i was supposed to cover the scars or not!
Thanks! I just got mine exactly 12 days ago and I have sooooo many questions that my surgeon has not informed me about.
Thanks for the tips! I just got mine a week ago and already they look great and i feel pretty good. As for the last girl’s comment, why on earth would you get implants at age 16???
Thank you for the info. I am getting mine done April 2nd! I am soooooooooooo excited, and you did answer some question that I had.
This was excellant advice. I am a mother of three who has been waiting an awful long time for my “mommy makeover”. I am so excited and terrified too. I am going to be getting my breast augmentation and tummy tuck around the end of July 2009. Thank You again for sharing your personal experience.
Good advice. I got my about 5 days ago and am really tired still but the more I move them around the better they feel.
brill! tht answered so many questions! i had mine just 2 days ago! v.v.sore n cnt get out of bed, takes me bout 30mins, think most of it is just fear to b honest, atleast i no im not alone
overall very pleased with my new boobies, i feel like a real women now
hope u all get on ok in the future with ur procedures x
Thanks for all the info, I’m getting mine done on April 14/09 and honestly I haven’t been this scared in a very long time. I’m so afraid of the pain, how they look, too big, too small, capsular contraction. I stopped smoking completely on March 13th so it is a month before my procedure so hopefully it won’t happen to me.
I guess I will wait about 2 months before going back to the gym, I do work out religiously for the last 5 yrs and it’s gonna suck to wait that long to work out but I don’t want to damage my implants. As for the tanning thing, you think I can tan after a month as long as I cover up my scars right? I also heard you’re not supposed to tan 2 weeks before because it’s easy to get infection if the skin flakes off? Is that true? So hard to believe what’s true and what’s not.
I got mine on May 29th 2008, i love mine, i never felt any pain from the surgery, i did feel alittle tired, and had alittle bit difficulty getting in and out of my bed, i went from a 36B to a 36DD. i also had a lift on both of my breast, but i went over the muscle not under, i seen to many women with under and i didn’t care for the way they looked with implants. there breasts were either to far apart or way up top like a weight lifter and i didn’t like it. Here’s what i did, you might laugh but i am glad i did, i took a picture out of a magazine and showed him how i wanted my breast to look, not asking for a miracle but its what i wanted and i was paying for them, so i did it. He was very glad i did that and everything worked out fine, i was cut around my nipple and straight down like a lollipop, they are healing fine. i have a tanning bed and get in mine alot but i did wait until i was almost 6 months out, because i went through the summer healing. But they look good and make me feel good. thanks
Hey Susie
Thanks for the info, I am extremely worried about my operation which is in 12 days!!!!! I’m so afraid of the pain and whether I maybe going to be too big or not. I’m a 36A right now and want to be a nice full C, I got sized and was going to go for 350cc cohesive gel under the muscle but I’ve seen so many pics women my size and they look huge when they only get 300 or 325!! I’m so confused, I don’t want to look like a freak. I’m only 5:2 110 lbs but I’m quite athletic so don’t want to also look like one of those body builder types either. So 350 or 360??
As for tanning, 6 months?? I was told about 6 weeks as long as you cover up your incisions.
Thanks
I got my BA on April 1st.I got 510 cc. I already love them getting out of bed after sleeping all night is the worst but other then that im being pretty active.I have alot of bloating in my belly and it is hard to take deep breaths.Has any one had this problem?
I got my breast augmentation on April 2, 2009. Prior to surgery I was a 32 full A and was so worried about picking a size that would look too large on my frame. I am 5′7 and 110 lbs. I ended up going with 421 CC of silicone gel under the muscle in the right breast and 397 CC in the larger left breast and could not be happier. The swelling has already gone down a ton and aside from sleeping comfortably feel that I am almost back to 100% less than a week later. I was able to get the surgery on a Thursday and had no problem going back to work on Monday. Just need to take it easy on the lifting. As for working out, (this is the hardest part because I used to work out every day) I was told to not have my heart rate elevated (this can lead to complications / bleeding at the incision site) for 3-4 weeks. However, as for cardio of any kind (6-8 weeks). Lifting weights, at LEAST 8 weeks preferable 3 months. Tanning, I was told at least 8 weeks and to cover the incision site with sterile strips for at LEAST 6 months. However, rest assured that all of this is worth it! You will look great and feel more like a girl in the end.
Thanks for the info Natalie, I guess I’ll wait for 8 weeks before I go tanning but for sure I have to keep the sterile strips for 6 months? Where do I get these sterile strips from?
I’m definately going to miss working out for a while, my surgery’s next tuesday and I’m working out like a man woman in the gym this week (hope that won’t be bad) and I was told to take 2 vitamin C pills per day at least 2 weeks prior to my op.
Also do you guys know if it’s safe to go into a hot tub a month after the surgery? I’m going to oregon on May 18th and it’ll be a little over a month and I maybe going into a hot tub but not sure if that’s a good thing or not yet.
Anonymous C, good luck surgery. I am sure that it will go great! The sterile strips should be available at any medical supply store. They may even by by your local pharmacy’s counter, I would ask them. As for hot tubbing, I am not sure…I didn’t ask that question. So, I would talk to your Dr. and see what he or she says.
Thanks Natalie, you have no idea how freaked I am right now. 6 days away!! I have no idea what to expect even though I’ve done a ton of reading and research on everyone’s experience. I’m just really worried about the recovery and any complications that may occur. You’re so lucky you were almost 100% in a week?
I’m getting mine done on a tuesday and I’m returning work on the following Monday, so I hope that’s enough time for me. Any other advice?
Thanks! I just got my implants yesterday and you just about answered all of my questions. I love to go tanning, and my doctor said to keep them covered and use sun screen on your breasts if they’ll be exposed to any sun light. As for day one, I was (am) very nauseous from the medications but not feeling too much pain. Things have been pretty good so far. When I feel nauseous, I just look down and remember it’s worth it!
I will be in Hawaii in two weeks, any advice for the plane ride or activities to avoid? I was told not to get in the water.
Wow you just got them yesterday and you’re feeling not much pain? I guess everyone’s different so I’m hoping I will be alot like you. Can you tell me what height and weight you are and what type of implants you got? Under/over, saline, silicone or co-gel? how many cc’s??
I’m getting extremely nervous right now and it’s 6 days away. I’m planning to not take any medications unless I really need it, I heard those medications can make you nauseous and very ill.
Have a great time in Hawaii, I’ve been there 3 times and I would totally live there if I could.
This question is for Natalie. You’re information has been so helpful, thank you! But I do have one very important question, we are about the same frame, I am 5′7 and 114 pounds and my biggest concern is being the right size. I want to look normal and proportioned. I decided on 390cc’s. I want to be a full C. PLEASE get back to me and tell me what you think about that. I read your cc’s and just wanted to know what exactly that would be. What do you think about 390cc’s??? Oh actually my right is smaller than my left so they will be 390, but filled at 410 on the right and 390 on the left.
Anonymous C, I am getting mine in 12 DAYS!!! And I am totally freaking out! I am so nervous and scared, we share a lot of the same concerns and have similar questions.
I just got mine 5 days ago too. I feel great. The first 2-3 days were uncomfortable, but really not too much pain. As for tanning, even if you cover up the whole breast, you still can’t tan the rest of the body for 8 weeks? I would love to tan or get some sun and I don’t mind just covering them all up. Is that okay to do?
Hi Monica. I think that you will be very happy with that size! I wanted the look of a Full C as well. So, the right smaller breast was filled to 421 and the larger left breast to 397. Anyway, I just went to my post op yesterday and was measured at a “D” but there is still a ton of swelling to go down. So, my Dr. is expecting that indeed I will be a Full C when all the swelling goes down.
Be sure to let me know how it goes!
Okay, perfect. Thank you so much Natalie! I just went to my pre-op yesterday and I am now a week away! So crazy! I am so glad I found you on here because we are around the same size. That was really helpful. Im excited but nervous at the same time, especially for the surgery and recovery. And loving the size of course. I will definitely keep you posted! : ) Full C is the way to be! haha How are you liking them? Did you have to buy all new shirts?
Great Info, had the surgery on the first of April and 98% of things you mentioned are true.
Sincerely,
MERI
Hey girls – sorry kind of long but might be able to ease your mind girls.
I just came back from my surgery today, wow talk about being scared or what. I went in at 7:30Am (well 15 min late cuz of my bf) but anyway went into the change room and asked me a bunch of questions, took some meds before going in to help with the pain and incase of nausea. My bf came in to say good bye to me and I went back in. My PS came in and marked my chest with my sizing, I wanted 375cc’s but he said he won’t do it cuz that’s way too big for my frame so I did 350cc, cohesive gel- under – mod profile plus – incision under the breast.
I went into the operating room, the nurses and the other staff was sooooooooooo nice to me. I had a warm blanket, they gave me some leggings and gave me a massage while they prepped me. The only massive pain I felt was the IV they jabbed into my hand for the anesthetic and that was OMG awful pain but it only lasted maybe 1 min or so but still holy crap!
I was out like a light after that, I woke up in the recovery room (felt like i was out and awake within minutes but was about an hour 20min apparently). When I woke up, I felt this huge weight on my chest, not really painful but just really sore like I over did it at the gym. I’m a total baby when it comes to pain (especially when I broke my tailbone last Nov) so this is nothing compare to my broken bone.
It was more discomfort and soreness then awful pain, I was surprised cuz i can’t stand pain! I had no brusing but just a little swollen. I know it’s probably normal but the are so hard right now (hope it’ll soften up soon and it’s not capsular contracture). After waiting in the recovery room he nurse gave me some O.J. cuz i was so thirsty.
It’s only been about 5 hrs or so since i’ve been out and i’m walking around, typing and so happy that it’s not that bad. I haven’t even touched my pain meds the PS prescribed me, I’m going to try hard not to take them if I don’t have to but we’ll see tonight and tomorrow. The next day(s) might be worse then today, who knows but it is definately tolerable right now. I guess everyone’s different and I’ve read so many forums about other girl’s experience and I envied all of them who had a very easy recovery and I’m hoping I’m one of those girls which so far so good!
As for tanning, I was told at least 6-8 weeks before tanning and you have to cover up your scars and put sunscreen on your boobs at least 6 months to a year before they are completely healed!
I usually go to a tanning salon and tan in those standup ones and I usually tan about twice a week. I want to start tanning again but afriad it might be too soon but then if i wear a sports bra or bikini top i’m sure it’ll be fine but don’t know if i should chance it. Also i hate tan lines,if you guys have any questions please feel free to ask. So many girls have been so helpful with all the info so I am glad I’m able to share my stories with those of you who are waiting for your surgery! Good luck and honestly you will be fine, alittle pain for now but then you have your beautiful boobs in the end, so worth it!!
Glad to hear it went well Anonymous C. Your experience and what you described was like reading the story of my surgery day. I am two week post surgery tomorrow and feel great. Just one thing to remember is that your new boobs will look really goofy the first week or so, but they honestly start to look better and better each day that passes!
Hey Natalie
Yes I know what you mean, its only day 2 for me and it looks really wierd right now. It’s super big but high up,stiff, sore and hard. I can’t wait for the day it starts to drop and softens up. So from your experience, so far 2 weeks has it dropped and softened up and starting to look normal?
What about bra shopping? My PS said I should wait since right now I tried on my 36C sports bra and it’s tight but maybe later on it’ll fit? I look more like a D right now.
Yes, they have started to drop and are starting to get closer together. I felt like at first you could place a coke bottle between the two of them and that is not the case now. So, I would say that after the one week mark is when the swelling started to go down and they started getting closer together. I still have yet to even try on a sports bra, so that is the plan for this weekend to see where I am at size wise.
Hey Ladies-
Glad to see that you are all enjoying the article I wrote. It has been a little over 2 years since my surgery now and figured I’d see how everyone is doing and if anyone had any questions for me.
My implants still look fabulous but a few comments I want to make. First; the size definitely decreases significantly after the first year. So honestly I wish I went bigger. They are still implants and look wonderful and well worth it but if you’re stuck on size I would suggest going bigger rather than smaller. When I chose the size my doctor said too big wouldn’t be good because I had a small frame and it would be difficult to close my arms. (of course that sounds crazy and I don’t want to look like a freak haha) so I went with the reasonable size that would let me close my arms without problems haha.
In the beginning I wrote that sometimes you can feel/hear weird noises in your implants. This generally goes away but for me, does still occur on occasion. (This is especially true if you work out a lot) Another thing I noticed is that you get very used to your implants. It seems I am always thinking they look small, have shrunk, or that they’re leaking. All my friends and boyfriend think I’m crazy and say there huge but you get a psychological complex. After a year or so you will start to feel that they look smaller. This is true in a way, they are smaller as to they lost the swelling factor they once had. I know it’s hard to believe your boobs would be swollen for a year but when you see the doctor for your consult, they actually tell you the full outcome and swelling will appear in a year. So realistically girls, your “girls” won’t be the way they’ll look for good until AFTER a year. So my advice is enjoy the crazy psycho omg there implants look while you can, cause even though they still look amazing there is a difference as time goes by.
Now the only other thing I noticed is you should still continue to message them when in the shower from time to time. The doctor never told me how long to continue this, but I’d assume not longer than a year! I stopped messaging them but I’m sure if I continued the cleavage would be even better. (It still rocks though!)
As to tanning- well haven’t been tanning in about a year now. (I know kind of weird…) I was so used to looking dark n sexy and now I’m all pale! =( But hey your skin needs a break every now and then to recuperate from what we put it through. Your implants will obviously look much more amazing and defined when your tan. It works just like looking ripped. Did you ever notice how someone can look like they have ripped abs when there tan? The same concept applies to implants. Out of my personal opinion your implants will truly look their best… when your tan. (That is if you’re going for the implant look) If you’re trying to look “natural” I’d probably avoid the tanning beds.
So other than those few comments and tips everything is going great. I still love the fact I have boobies, I look awesome in almost any shirt and especially bathing suits…and well I still recommend it all for anyone and everyone. It is well worth the money and of course the self esteem you’ll gain. (Depending on the person if you’re not that confident) Honestly at first when I got them all I could think about is there probably going to lose their amazing look in a year or so or leak. I couldn’t believe I would have to pay $7200 again at some point like 20 years down the line and go through it all again… But now… I really don’t care and can’t wait till I do them over. I can have a better understanding of size and outcome in the end, I already know the cost, already have a doctor (hopefully he’s still practicing whenever ill need to think about this again) and I already know what level of pain to expect.
So anyway ladies- if you have any questions, comments, etc. for me feel free to ask / leave them and ill gladly answer.
Thanks for being so loyal and continuously posting and commenting on the article! Hope everyone’s surgeries are coming out awesome and you all enjoy them as much as I do! -Jess
Hey Jess and everyone
I haven’t been on here for a while but I’m on day 14 almost, tomorrow’s day 14 and Jess is right, I keep looking at them saying how small they are getting and I’m getting disappointed but meanwhile everyone is saying they’re massive! I have to be patient and let them drop and fluff and once they do they’ll look amazing. I wanted to be a full C and right now my boobs can’t even fit into a B bra cuz it’s so high up still but still everyone says be patient, once they drop and fill out that bra is going in the garbage. Hope they’re right.
You girls will think I’m nuts but I’m feeling so good during the recovery and I actually went back to tanning on day 10 and it was fine and I just came back from tanning today and it’s all good. I just made sure to cover up my incisions so I guess everyone’s different but there’s no problem with me tanning so far, keep your fingers crossed.
I’m going to keep positive even though I’m going through some boobie greed but like Jess says, I’ve been staring at these things day after day and I was so used to having them swollen that they looked huge but I still think they’ll be huge once they have dropped completely and I’ve dropped quite abit already and it’s only 2 weeks.
Thanks for reading and any questions, feel free to ask.
I just had mine done on May 6th 2009. My doctor was great at explaining the smoking thing, I dont smoke so it really didnt matter but it does come in handy to know everything possible. I was also told no hot tubbing or even submerged baths, I love to Take hot bath especially to shave my legs and just soak. However now I have to run half the water I normally do as to not submerge. I believe this is so the incisions can heal properly. I was a 36c in my padded bras before I got the procedure, that is the only way I could fill out my clothes, my actual breasts were more like a b. When talking to the doctor about size he told me our bodies will only allow us to go so big the first time around. We eventually deiscovered that I could go up to a D which made me very happy. I got the under the muscle procedure and am very happy with the fullness and natural look. I look in the mirror and see the woman I have always wanted to see and it looks right, not freaky. I am worried about this talk about them dropping though will that make them smaller and change the look? I am already attached to them and the way they look now. This is my 5th day with the new look and I thought all the swelling that was supposed to go away was already gone. So will they change even more from here?
hey Chelle
Well I’m in about a little over a month now and as for the change, i’ve noticed that once the swelling’s gone it “seems” to be smaller because you’re so focused on how they look in the beginning but now mine’s dropped so much (almost complete) i would say and they aren’t smaller but they look really good now. More natural and a lot fuller! Don’t worry if it does change it will change for the better, trust me! I was so worried when I was around 5-10 days but now I love mine so much and they look awesome.
You’ll get there!
My doctor told me you would not be completely healed for A YEAR. I also wanted to warn you to DO YOUR EXERCISES!! It feels really gross to feel the crunching sounds and feel the buzzing sensations but your breasts will be beautiful and you won’t get encapsulated. Also, invest in some cocoa butter and use it faithfully. Make sure to massage deeply into the scar tissue so you won’t be lumpy on the incision. It will help you smaller women with alot of stretching to avoid stretch marks. To answer a question on the forum, your breasts will continue to change over the first year. My year anniversary was mid-April of this year and I feel as though I’ve had them forever. IMPLANTS ROCK – go for it!
I just had a breast augmentation and lift on May 7, 2009 (I am 3 weeks post op). The first thing I would say is that all the posts are great advice but always ask your doctor before doing (or not doing) something. For example, one poster suggested to make sure to do your massaging, whereas my doctor told me I cannot yet as there was still too much of a risk of causing internal bleeding.
As far as dropping, I have been told that they should drop within 2-3 months. After that, it is gravity and will continue to “drop” as if they were natural boobs over time, but that the 3 month mark should be a general idea of what they will look like. I am 3 weeks post op and although they look so much better than they did, they are still very very high (more than I would like them to be). Part of my issue is that I work out a lot (or did pre-surgery) and the muscles in my chest are not relaxing to allow the implants to drop. Women who are not as athletic supposedly will drop a lot sooner.
Lastly, my advice on size is to NOT try to go by what someone else chose even if their height/weight seem similar to you. There are so many other factors, such as how wide your frame is, how big your chest is, how long your torso is, how wide your breasts are, how your ribs are shaped. Your implants will follow the natural shape of your breasts so some women will have wider with more cleavage while others will have more space in between but they will protrude more outward. For example, my girlfriend was a C before and had 415 cc implants and now is a FULL DD. I was also a C and had 530 cc implants and now am a D (I’m 5′8″/125 lbs).
As far as healing, I was able to go back to work after about 5 days. Pain wise, I never felt too much pain from day one. There were certain movements that would be a little uncomfortable, but it only lasted a moment (like if you had an open wound and you accidentally bumped it, but then the pain goes away again). I was warned that it was going to be extremely painful so I was expecting the worst but it was not bad at all. I find the not being able to lift things and not being able to exercise much more troublesome than the pain ever was. So, for those of you that are nervous, although everyone’s experience is different, don’t be too scared, you can get through it.
Hey girls
I’m now at about almost 3 months post op and omg do I ever love my boobs. For the longest time I was so worried they were too small blah blah blah but now I fit into a 36D bra and it’s a little tight so we’ll see if they will still drop but honestly I love my cleavage, big time cleavage and my boobs are huge and they look so natural.
I started out as a 36A and now I’m a 36D possibly DD so you guys will love your boobs just as much as I do.
Thanks for the info…I got mine 3 weeks ago and love them already….and yes you were right about the most uncomfortable pain was getting on and off the bed.
Hi, i got mine done on the 10th of September, and they are really swollen and high up. I feel a little relieved hearing they will drop within 2 – 3 months but how soon do they become softer and more natural feeling? Im 5′7 and 130 lbs and i went from a full A to what is now a D, I had 350cc high profile saline implants put in, I heard that saline have a firmer feel and dont feel as natural, has anyone had saline that can tell me what theres feel like? Im scared I went to big and there not really sitting right at the moment, they look really fake right now. on the other hand its so good and comforting to read evryones story. Can anyone let me know if they had the same fears and how theres have turned out? Thanks gurls!!
I also got saline implants In June. I’m 5,2 110 pounds. I was a 34 A I got 390 ccs & I’m now a 34 D-DD. They did look very fake for the first month & now they look great, I’m very happy with the results. They are somewhat firm but my surgeon told me to constantly massage & move them to help keep them soft..They’re definetely softer now than they were a month after my surgery. I think once you give it some time you’ll be very pleased with your results.
hy i agree with deedree. I just got mine done 3 days ago.I’m 5′7 and 130lbs, i was 34b and got 350 R and 365 on L. for some reason they look to small and so high.. i already cried so much becouse all i wanted was a full c or a D and for what i have been reading thy’ll probally will drop and look small..
what you gys think??
am i crazy???
Hi i got my BA 2wks ago n feel like they’re too small…I’m around 5′2 and 110lbs and was an A cup, I got 430cc silicone unders, I am very disappointed in the outcome…I’m getting a tummy tuck in 6 months and thinking about getting a redo on my boobs…I really thought 430cc would’ve looked great but as soon as I woke from surgery I knew they were too small straight away, I keep hearing bout this dropping and fluffing but I don’t think mine will look any bigger…to me I seem to look the same in clothes as before.
I heard that your scars would get dark and stay that way if you tan…is that true? When did your scars heal? I am getting them Dec. 20 and I want to be tan and in a nice new dress by my anniversary by the end of Jan.
Advice?
Hi I’m 17 and I just got silicon gel implants 4 days ago. I really want to tan!
I can’t stand it! Why can’t u tan earlier than 3 weeks?
Everyone’s comments have been so helpful! I am scheduled for my BA in about 4 weeks and I am SO anxious and nervous! I am VERY flat chested (AA) and am just going for a small natural implant. I am getting saline implants, moderate profile, under the muscle, filled to 275 cc’s. It sounds small, but I think it will look very proportioned for my build. I am a teacher and have not shared with my colleagues or many other people that I am doing this and want to know how noticeable it will be to others. I will be returning to work on day 5 so I know I will still be swollen, but am thinking I can wear a scarf and layer my clothes to conceal a lot of it..any thoughts?? Thanks again for all the stories…they help ease my mind somewhat!!
HI Iam 5″4″ Wt 116 Iam scheduled to get the BA done the first week of Feb. Iam NERVOUS And SCARED ,But happy to get it done. YES everyone’s comments help so much. Iam going under the muscle, filling them to 360 cc’s with saline. I just hope they wont be to big!! I don’t want to be small. It is hard to decide on the size.. Any THOUGHTS?? I hope all goes well. We have a trip planned in May for Cabo and I wanted to know when I can tan ?? Yea the gym will be so hard to miss. But I will take care of my girls.. Can’t wait for the day
YOU CAN TAN RIGHT AFTER.
I was in my tanning bed 3 days after surgery. Just cover your scars. My doctor said it was fine to tan too and my boobs are still perfectly in tact. I just dont look pasty like the people who wait a month to tan! That’s ridiculous.
TN: I’m 5′5″ and 105 lbs so we are kind of the same build. I was completely flat and got 275cc in saline and I am a full C now. Soooo you may wanna reconsider 300 cc. You might look fat with 360. My best friend got 350 and is a HUGE DD now.
Hey guys!
I’ve been reading your posts and really appreciate all the comments. It’s been about 3 years since my surgery and everything’s going great. I definitely still think they are small but people tell me they are huge for my body all the time. I think I wanna go a bit bigger next time hehe If you are scheduled to get implants I would def agree with Samantha and say go bigger. They seem huge when your looking at them in your shirt in the doctors office but they look much smaller once they’re in there. Bigger is always better..b/c then you have no chance of being disappointed and wishing you would’ve gone bigger haha But don’t go too crazy, we are women and people gawk and don’t take you seriously if you go to big. One thing I noticed is I get really nervous sleeping on my stomach. I am a huge stomach sleeper and I’m always worried that I’m gonna pop one. My doctor said its impossible so I guess I’m just neurotic. I haven’t been tanning in a few months now but cant wait to get back into the groove of things. Bodies and Boobies always look better tan =)
I heard that you if you go in a tanning booth you should cover your breasts if you have implants because the heat would not be good and they could possibly rupture. Is this true? Hope not cause I plan on hitting the booths very soon. Any input on this. Thanks….
Hey everyone, what a great forum, so much information!!!
am getting my BA on the first week in april an am soo excitied, nervous as its my first operation!!! Everybody sounds sooo happy with their result’s. My boyfriend is against me getting them so i hope they do turn out nice to convince him that i made a good decision.
I am about 5′2 and weigh about 115lbs(trying to lose 5lbs before surgery)my surgeon has advised me on 415cc silicone gel cohesives partiallyunder te muscle, i want to be a dd???? Surgeon has told me to take a n E cup bra for swelling so he must think he is going to achieve the result.
Im a bit worried about one of the comments above about under the muscle looking far apart is this true?? I dont want that big gap in the middle!
Emma–I’m getting mine done on April 5th too!! I’m so excited and we seem to be similar in build!! I’m 5′2 and 110 lbs…I’m only doing a 300cc and I’m getting saline…I’m scared that anything bigger would just be too big because I’m so little!! Mine will also be under the muscle…when i used sizers I tried the 300 and the 350 cc and I thought that the 350 was too big, but now I’ve been reading that 50cc wont make much of a difference…do you ladies think I should go with the 350cc so I won’t be disappointed?
