i was given a bottle of this product for valentines day with a gift certificate for a tanning salon in my area. i did have a few questions regarding the use, and how to get the most effective results from your product, Black 20x. if you could respond to me through email, i would love to know if there is a time phrame as to when it should be applied to my body before an actual tanning session. Should it be fully absorbed and dry on my skin, or should it be put on just before i tan? i would appreciate your response and any feedback you could give me. Thankyou, Fair Skinned Maiden

you just put it on before you get in the bed but make sure you get it all over your skin and when the tanning session is done make sure to put on a lot of lotion. I like the hempz it isnt greasy. but you did get o0ne of the best bronzers on the market black 20x is great.

oh and with the black 20X you only need to tan 3 or 5 times to get the perfect tan. you also do not need to wait til it is soaked in to start tanning. You shoud only need enough to lightly cover your body. if you have a whole bottle it will last years.lol

Actually, you can use any Designer Skin tanning lotion outside, it even says so on the bottle. It just does not contain sunscreen, so you need to apply that first so you don’t burn. The lotions work just as good outside as they do in a tanning bed.

To answer Fair Skinned Maiden’s question, I read somewhere that indoor tanning bed lotion is best effective when applied 1-2 hours before you go tanning so that it is fully absorbed into the skin, for better results.

I just purchased this stuff on eBay by clicking the link above and originally it runs from about $80-$100, but i just bought it for $36 buuucks! it’s a pretty awesome deal, especially for such a great product. I have to wait a few business days before it gets shipped to me, but i’m sooo excited and can’t wait to see the results! :)

I am interested in buying a bottle, but I am debating between Black 20x or Supre Tansium. I hear that with Supre Tansium you dont have to wait and hour after tanning before you can shower, is that the same for Black 20x?

I bought several samples of Black 20x before I spent $80.00 to buy a bottle. Wipe inbetween your toes and fingers after you put on your lotion cause it builds up and you can tell it was a bronzer. This product works great! And smells wonderful!

  22. Cliff
    July 14th, 2009 at 7:54 pm

2 to 5 hours is usually what salons recommend, to give enough time for the bronzers to really do their thing, but not too much time where it starts doing funky things

Yes, switching lotions will help you break through your tanning plateau and in the end will result in a darker tan

    September 9th, 2009 at 10:43 pm

My husband and I just started tanning about 2 weeks ago now. My skin is generally white and usually I burn and peel. BUt we are heading to Jamaica and we wanted to get a nice base tan going at least.

I have been in the tanning bed about 6 times now, the salon recommended Designer Body – Revival. I do like it and am noticing some color. However, I wish I was showing more color then I am.

With the tanning lotions like Black 20 x (which has bronzer), when you put this on your skin, is it like using sunless tanning stuff? As I do not want to turn orange and get streaks.

I do not get this with me Revival that I have been using, but I think I should bump up my lotion to get even darker.

    Help!

Bronzers are great, here is what you do, apply the lotion to your entire body just before your tanning bed session and when you’re done DON’T take a shower right away. The bronzers in the lotion will work their magic after your session for up to 4-8 hours. I usually wait to take a shower until between 2-4 hours after. However, DO wash your hands as soon as your done in the bed, those are usually the only part of your body that will turn orange if you don’t wash it off right away. Other than that the bronzer will give you a deep dark tan after only a few times using it. And don’t worry about your body turning orange or streaks, as long as you apply the lotion evenly and wash your hands after your session you won’t have any problems. Good luck, and woo hoo Jamaica!

Are the bronzing lotions just the same as false tans? If I stop using sunbeds and the lotion will it fade how false tans do or will it wear off the same way with build up??

I have quite a dark complexion..should i use one with tingle?

i just bought black 20x yesterday and used it for the first time. i was using devoted to couture before this one and that one wouldnt really get me any darker, it would get me some color then it wud fade by my next tanning session. so i wouldnt really ever get as dark i wanted. i hope black 20x will actually make me dark after a few tans. what do you think? would it? i also use the best machine in the salon.. also, how often do you need to go tanning to get very dark with using black?

I would say to get a good base tan go once every 3 or 4 days for the first 2 weeks, then most people can maintain that tan by only going once every 6 or 7 days after that.

I heard that if you buy them off ebay then they are fake? I bought one previously and it didn’t seem to work as well as the ones I bought in the salon…anyone heard of this?

  35. Steve
    November 23rd, 2009 at 9:12 pm

Salon owners are usually the ones telling people the lotions for sale online are fake, but it’s not really true. Tanning salons make most of their money selling lotions and other add-ons, that’s why they don’t like people buying the lotions elsewhere. The salons always charge full retail price for the lotion which is what drives people to shop online for it. There are hundreds of websites and sellers on eBay & Amazon that offer tanning bed lotions and if they were fake there would be millions of people complaining, but there isn’t!

Hey I have fair/pale skin that burns pretty easy. I’m Just wandering if this would be ok on my skin to start out at the tanning bed, or if it will just turn me orange and make me look funky. If someone could let me know that would be great!

  48. TanMaster
    March 2nd, 2010 at 11:37 pm

Hey Kt, this lotion is great. It will definitely not turn you orange! Just make sure to apply it evenly and wash your hands immediately after tanning. Then wait a few hours for the bronzer to work before taking a shower. If you have pale skin keep the tanning sessions short… try 8-10 minutes for your first few sessions and gradually move up to 10-15 mins to get darker. Black 20X is great you cant go wrong!

I used to work at a high end tanning salon in my area where we sold this for $100 a bottle… I bought it for $35 because i worked there but i ABSOLUTELY love this lotion! As for the face comments DO NOT use this product on your face regularly!!! It will cause greasy skin, acne, and blotchyness! I would recommend a face lotion which is usually $10 a bottle called amazing face, there is one with bronzer and one without for hypoallergenic uses. There is also one called saving face which has acne fighting medicine activated by the bed, its great if you have acne problems! :)

Omg!! This is my first time having a tanning membership and i got the best tanning package with access to all of the beds and the mystic/spray tan. I bought this lotion bc they were having a promotion and I got a great deal on it. I was using it in the matrix bed for about a week and a half and I didn’t really see results. I was pretty disappointed so I asked the girls that worked there what was up and they said the bed only had uvb rays and I needed to switch it up with the other beds. The lotion made my skin super soft every time no matter what bed i was in but now I can really see the color! I am soooo impressed with my color!! I will never buy any other tanning lotion and now that i seen the prices on ebay i won’t be switching anytime soon!

    Pros:
Super silky skin (like silk and that is not an exaggeration)
    Super bronze color, not fake
    Sooo good for your skin
Silicone tightens my skin (I’m skinny but I still have that little baby belly skin, you mommys know what i’m talking about. It’s taken that away almost completely!)

    Cons:
now that I have found it for cheap on ebay, there are no cons. It is worth every penny

I have been using this lotion for a year now. I LOVE the results. To keep from having your hands turn orange…as soon as you put this lotion on just wipe them off with a towel or paper towel. It also helps if you use a hand sanitizer as soon as you get out of the tanning bed. This will guarantee to keep the orange fingers away!!

(Pros: Keeps your skin silky smooth
You get what you pay for in lotions and this one is expensive for a reason
In just a few tanning sessions there are great results)

Linny, My kids are grown and my stretch marks were/are terrible. Going to try this, but have been using DS Goddess, just started about 3 weeks ago every o. day. (4)4 min…(3)6 min…(1 or 2)8 min, just did my first 10, plus another 3 on legs and “stretch mark areas”. I have been using the Goddess on my top thighs and top of hip/spare tire area. I am getting a good color on them already and they usually stay shiny year round, no matter the actual body tan. After reading this, I’m going to find the Black and order right now. Thanks everyone for the great reports. Hope it works for me!

I bought this lotion 2 years ago at my tanning salon for $100. I thought it was overpriced, but if it’s exspensive it’s gotta work right? and it did. it smells amazing. it doesn’t leave your skin smelling burnt like other lotions do. so if you don’t have time to shower after you tan your not smelling like burnt skin. it also makes your skin really soft. not to mention the nice bronze long lasting tan I got. I’ve had this lotion for 2 years and I still haven’t finished the bottle. so it’s a good value. I use it indoor and outdoor. designer skin Black is one of the beat tanning lotions out there!

I just purchased my first bottle of Black 20x today and when I got outta the tanning bed I still smelled like I did when I 1st applied it. I reallyyy love this lotion. Not only does it make you smell amazing but it actually gives you what you want, which is a deep dark tan. It feels like you’re putting silk on your skin and afterwards your skin is soo ridiculously smooth. My skin stays just as smooth when i put it on as it does a day later. I’ve only used it 3 times so far and i have noticed that my skin is getting darker. It didn’t make me stick to the tanning bed or feel like i had even put any lotion on at all! After getting out of the tanning bed i got compliments on how good i smelt. I love it. This is the best tanning lotion ever.

I’ve tried the Black and love it, but, lately I’ve been using the Luminary 25x, and that smells and works AWESOME too!!! Are the Black and Luminary about the same, which is better? And I used to buy my lotions at the salons because everytime I mention getting them on line they would tell me they are FAKE- LIARS!!! I purchased Luminary on Ebay and it smells and worked the same. Just make sure when buy I question the seller how new their products are and check on how many they sell.

for lovely,, the reason you smelled funky is cause there is a distinct smell of tanning wheather your in doors or out. its from your dead skin cells, happens to every tanner. some people like it and some dont. if you dont, i suggest getting a tanning lotion that has a strong sent. even if it smell extremely strong when you put it on it sortta fades away after tanning anyways..hope that helped anyone who didnt know that! byye bye:)

It is the best bronzer i ever used. at my salon they were havin a sale and i got it for 64.64. You get the best tan if you use and you go in the illusion for 3-5 and you get extra dark.

This tanning lotion is amazing- I have tried almost all of the designer skin lotions in my yrs of tanning and by far have had the best results from this brand. I am very fair skin normally and with in a few sessions I looked like I was naturally tan my whole life. Be aware Cheap isn’t always better yes 80 to $100 is high -but you truly get what you pay for with this product… Keep in mind if you burn easily or don’t tan- some or no products may work for you. This product works best in the tanning bed but I have used it out doors over sun block to maintain my tan when on vacation- Make sure you exfoliate your skin when showering -it helps circulation and removed dead skin cells helping your tan stick and I have found applying about 1/2 hour to an hour before going has helped me tan, but this may vary from person to person… Happy Tanning!!

I used this tanning lotion for the last five months and it is really great. The best way to use a bronzer is to apply it 30 minutes before you tan, that way the melanin in your skin can supe up and get ready for the bed. I also really liked how soft my skin felt with the Black20X without making my skin feel too oily. I do recommend this for serious tanners that want a rich lasting tan without the greasiness.

Anyone know why there is a black bottle and a silver bottle? Are they both the same thing?

Hey Sarah – I think it’s just the lighting that each seller is using when taking the picture – there should only be one type of bottle for Black 20X.

I really love this tanning lotion! It gets you so dark so fast! You feel the heat on your skin and you feel the lotion maximizing your glow/darkness!Its just a great lotion!!

I plan on buying Black 20x tanning lotion and i am a redhead with very fair skin. Will this type of bronzer still work good on my skin ? And does it have a spf sunsreen in it so i will not burn .

And after the tanning bed session. Do you use just a reg. lotion to put on ?

Hey Brandi – Most indoor tanning lotions do not contain any SPF, if you are prone to burning you should start off doing short sessions, maybe 5 to 7 minutes long. Black 20X is also a pretty intense bronzer so if you have very fair skin you may not be ready for it yet. Check out the post we wrote about the best lotions for those with fair skin: http://www.snizzap.com/best-tanning-lotion-fair-skin

After tanning there is one body lotion that I absolutely love, it’s called Hempz Herbal Moisturizer, here’s our page about it: http://www.snizzap.com/supre-hempz-lotion-1-gallon-18.html
