Im a Italian male so I do tan quickly however, I do not tan often. My girlfriend had purchased a package at her tanning salon and they gave her a card for a friend to get a free 2 week trial. She gave it to me. I dont know much about lotion or the differences so I didnt want to buy a bottle. My girlfriend had some sample packets she has had lying around for a few months and she said I should just use them. She does not like the tingle or warming lotions so those were the packets she gave me. She gave me Melt, Obsidian, and pink diamond. First off before everyone laughs at me. I DID NOT use the pink diamond. I choose to use the Obsidian one because of the black manliness of the package. Immediately after putting the lotion on, My skin felt warm and it felt quite relaxing. I stepped in the bed and the warm sensation complemented the warming of the bed. I could do without the peach scent but since no one else is smelling my skin It didnt bug me that much. After my first tanning session within house i was atleast 2 shades darker. I used half the pack the first time and half the pack the second time. After the second session i was just as dark as my girlfriend who was tanning for 2-3 weeks prior. She was quite jealous. Overall I give this lotion a ten. I dont know where my review stands taking the fact that I have not used many different lotions. But id have to say if i were a regular tanner i would definitely buy the bottle of this.

i have tried 20 different lotions and the obsidian 30x is the best. my skin color is medium and i have gotten 2 shades darker since using it. i go tanning 4 times a week for 20 minutes each session. i use this lotion indoors. obsidian makes my skin silky and smooth. it smells like mango.yummy! it took 3 sessions to get darker with this lotion. i would rate this lotion 10! i go tanning at Aloha Tans. i prefer the wolff tan beds.

This lotion is perfect not too much heat enough bronzers but not too many that it stains and it gives an amazing tan!

I kept hearing lots about this lotion and how great it was, and it was one of the most expensive lotions sold at my salon. I bought a bottle of it and tried it. I didn’t get the same effect from a packet that I did with a bottle. This stuff is intense. If you’re new to tanning, I’d be careful starting with this, especially if you’ve never used a warming or tingle lotion before. It’s not a tingle lotion — but if you put this on right after a shower, your skin will *burn* like a tingle! It feels good, but very intense. I’d advise against using this one on your face.

    Hey Kristan!

Obsidian is a great lotion, actually all three that you mentioned are great. Obsidian is just a little different in that it contains some “warming” ingredients. Most people find this effect relaxing, and the lotion helps you get awesome color, but you may want to avoid applying it to your face until you see how the rest of your body reacts to it.

Not that anything bad will happen, but I’ve had a few people say they weren’t prepared for the sensation and it was a little much on their face for the first time.

Other than that you picked a good one!

so i’m pretty new to indoor tanning but i live on the beach, naturally have an olive skin tone and i tan really well. but getting older means less time to lay around outside so tanning bed it is. lol. i’ve never bought a bottle of indoor tanning lotion before and was torn between Obsidian Luminary and Phoenician. i decided on Obsidian and am very excited! i was just wondering if yall thought i made the right decision, or have any advice/suggestions when it comes to tanning lotions and what not :) much appreciated and i LOVE this site!

Obsidian is great, but I feel like there is some confusion between “Tingle” lotion and “Warming” lotion.
This is NOT a tingle. Obsidian is a warming lotion that creates a warm sensation… like a warm bath or blanket right out of the dryer. Very relaxing. Not hot or painful or itchy like a tingle may be.

It’s actually considered a “warming” or “blush” lotion, but it doesn’t specifically contain tingle ingredients.

Hey Jessica – sounds like your salon is reasonable and you got a decent deal. The full retail price is $126, and some salons do charge that much, but the smarter ones realize that is just way too much. Thanks for your feedback!

I did not pay $126 at all, more like $70.

This is the best stuff ever! The smell of it is so amazing that I would honestly rather wear this lotion over any other perfume. The first time I tried it I could instantly see results. Two thumbs up! I would advise anyone to at least give this product a try for the scent alone!
