The TanTowel® is a revolutionary sunless tanning towelette designed to give you a deep, rich tan without exposing yourself to harmful UV rays. It comes in nice individual packets that are very easy to take with you wherever you go - much easier than lugging around a bottle of tanning lotion. The Tan Towel is offered in two strengths: Classic and Plus. The Classic is formulated for use by those with fair skin types or those who don’t tan very often. The Plus version is formulated for those who already may have darker skin types or those who do regularly tan.

Our first impression of the Tan Towel was that a lot of thought was put into making this product. Detailed instructions on how to use and apply this product are included with the professional packaging. The towelettes themselves look and feel much like the towelette you would get in restaurant to clean your hands. They smell nice, are non-greasy, and application is very smooth. The instructions state that you can’t use too much of the TanTowel in any one place but that you should make sure you don’t miss any areas. This is great because you don’t have to worry about over-applying the product and getting an uneven tan like you do with some sunless tanning lotions.

All you need to do is evenly apply the towel by gently rubbing it all over your body. Make sure you don’t apply it to wet skin because you will not achieve the desired effect. Once you’re sure you’ve hit all areas then just wait a few minutes for the lotion to dry to the touch and you’re ready to go. Immediately wash your hands thoroughly after applying the tan towel. The manufacturer suggests to not put moisturizers on your skin for at least 3 hours after applying the tan towelette. You also do not want to wash your body or shower during this time. Color will start to appear in as little as three hours. Multiple applications are usually required to achieve a dark tan effect.

Tantowel works with the proteins in your skin to create a change in color in the surface layer. It is actually your skin that is tan, not just a color on top of it. It will not wash off, though as your skin naturally sheds so does your tan, fading much like a tan from the sun. Anything that accelerates the natural shedding process (like exfoliating, swimming, etc.) may cause your tan to fade faster.
