Overview of Indoor Tanning Bed Levels

There are so many different types of indoor tanning beds that we can't mention them all here, but we can give you an overview of the most commonly used beds and the pros and cons of each.

For example, Beach Bum Tanning Salon offers a range of about five different beds you can choose from before starting a session. The size and quality of the tanning salon will determine what beds you have to choose from. Employees of tanning salons usually grade each bed by the amount of "burn" or "browning" it delivers. Cheaper beds tend to leave the tanner redder and possibly more burnt, where expensive top-of-the-line beds usually have very minimal burning and an abundance of browning. So basically, paying less doesn't necessarily mean you will only be tanning for less time, it usually means you are going to get an inferior bed.

If you can spare some cash it is recommended to tan in high "browning" beds and to avoid being "burnt" when you leave your session. Not only will you look better but it is most likely worse for your skin to actually get burnt when you tan. High quality, expensive beds will leave you golden brown when your session is over, the optimal desired effect. Tanning beds alone do not do all of the work... indoor tanning lotions are a key component of the perfect looking tan - and also healthier skin.

If a tanning salon offers you a range of tanning beds to choose from it is recommended to select a bed from the mid to upper levels. While it might not be the cheapest choice, you will have a much better looking tan and your skin will feel better from an expensive bed. Plus, top of the line tanning beds usually have additional bells and whistles that the cheap beds do not, like advanced temperature and fan controls and even built-in water spritzers!

A word of caution - be careful not to tan for too long because expensive beds make it feel realllly good to just lay there forever. Tanning sessions in indoor tanning beds should last for a maximum of 15-17 minutes to prevent dangerous skin damage.
